Hey everyone, I just came to my first month of playing Osu!mania. My name is Nathan, I'm a 4k player and I come from a background of guitar hero and rock band. Now that I've introduced myself I'd like to share what I learned so far as I am improving faster than you're average bear. The first thing that helped me improve drastically was using a fixed scroll speed. When I first started I was using the bpm scroll speed. I would go from playing on a 5 scroll speed to a 35 scroll speed XD. So that really really helped me.

When it comes to rhythm games in general, you have to have 3 things in your mind. Have a goal, be determined, and be dedicated. I've only been playing for one month and play a max of 4* beat maps. Which means that is the point where I start failing. Playing multiplayer really helped me a lot too. It takes your mind off of the topic of improving and lets you just simply have fun with the game. This is a video game after all and the whole point is to have fun, right? Being confident is my number one priority and I think everyone should take advantage of that. You will get better, you will pass that beat map, you will get to that * difficulty. Rhythm games is just a giant game of psychology in my opinion.

Also, make friends and talk with people throughout the community. Playing and talking with people that are better than you is a great source of discovering helpful tips and strategies that they have used to improve. Study up on the forums, always have a goal to get better, and stay positive. My current goal is to participate in the World Cup at one point. Even though I'm off to a great start I still have a long journey ahead of me.

What tips and tricks do you have that helped you improve? If you have any questions on how to improve faster, I've been playing rhythm games for 8 years so feel free to ask any questions.

I appreciate that you wanted to share some of your experiences, but I'd like to put out that we have a thread dedicated to discussing how to improve at mania. t/146615
