Do you think it is necessary to increase scroll speed?

What I mean is increasing scroll speed as one gets better. I'm not sure whether or not it will help going into harder maps if I learned faster scroll speeds.
Currently I have it set to 10; bmp scaling off.

It is most likely going to be necessary to raise it later, but don't worry about it for now. Nobody plays with 10 at higher levels (usually), but there are a lot of factors that come in to play with this discussion. Pretty much the be-all-end-all would be that yes, as you get better you will probably raise it, and that it being necessary is completely up to your standards, playstyle and setup.

You'll eventually feel the need to go higher at some point as you get more used to reading chunks of notes.

Raising speed does not make you improve. Any improvements anyone sees from higher speeds is from reducing the density of notes on the screen at once. As you begin to move up from easier maps, the visual density of notes on screen can become very bad at low scroll speeds, and many players simply can't read harder maps at lower speeds because of that.

As you improve, you will notice that pushing your speed up won't be as difficult as it felt earlier too, which is the other reason that people tend to increase their speed.
