For the longest time the OS X release has been cancer, but now it's just worse since we've been shoved back onto the fallback release and have literally no insight as to what is going on, barely any updates and no information about when or if we're going to get a standalone version. Normally i'd crash every few times a day, sometimes only once if i was lucky, but now it's unbearable.

I made a video on all the ways in which osu! can be broken, and the fastest was within a minute or so, however due to my upload speeds, i don't know whether or not i can get that out. One of the ways that seem to always break my client is switching skins and flicking through maps; simply flicking through maps slowly breaks the client but switching skins is a sure way to either freeze osu! or just crash it altogether. Here are some of the screenshots osu! will look like, but this was after multiple hours use back before i was shoved onto the fallback release, now i'm lucky if i get to play an hour without crashing.

I'd really appreciate SOME information on whether or not OS X users will even be getting a standalone version, even a little information on whatever it might be that's going on with the OS X client would be fucking fantastic.

Unless i am outdated, there is no OSX version. It's the windows version ran with a pre-configured wine installation. Peppy is working on it, but development takes time. You are using a pre-tested, known-working version of what the guys over in the linux thread are trying to get working. I might sound a bit arrogant saying it, but imo it's less "fix your game" and more the fact that you are literally trying to run osu on a platform it's technology(.net, microsoft stuff ya know) does not support, using some magic that may or may not work. You should be more happy it ish runs, there is much software that is yet to work using this method.

Check out this though: http://osx.ppy.sh/. It might be of help. My laptop is a macbook, and while i normally don't use OSX, i have tried osu! on it. It works fine for me.

Also, for the sake of devs, could you post what laptop(model/generation name would be great), and the operating system version this is happening under? It looks like your graphics card is not functioning well with wine.

Sure it takes time, i understand, but we're literally left with no updates on what or when anything might even be slightly happening. I'm currently using the version on that website and it's no different or of any help at all.

I bought my 15-Inch, Mid 2012 Mac a year ago so if the graphics card is failing that's rather concerning and i'm running El Capitan v10.11.2, if i left anything out let me know

i run osu on my macbook pro too but it doesnt lag THAT bad
the only time it lags is when i'm opening skins, loading songs
and when i click on (too many) links, it causes my mac to crash

It doesn't lag 'that bad' at launch, i can play as song with maybe 150-200 fps, once i change skins it's hell from there, if i'm in fullscreen and click a link my osu! will just show a black screen

IIRC peppy stated that Wine has issues with El Capitan and that the game may not be compatible with that version. Even the people of r/osugame were complaining that it doesn't work with 10.11

So updating was a mistake if you wanted to play and you would probably have to wait for a version that fully supports 10.11

You can still try the version in http://osx.ppy.sh/, but I don't know if it fixes any issues (I'm still running Yosemite v10.10.3)
