So I found this beatmap https://osu.ppy.sh/s/123359 , and I find the hitsound very good. I am just wondering can I use those hitsounds on my skin? Or will it not do anything? Sorry if this seems retarded

Yes, you can use the hitsounds from the beatmap. Just navigate to the beatmap's folder in your "Songs" folder, and move the hitsounds from there into your skin.
