The 4K scene was completely dominated by the US
and now the 7K scene is going to be completely dominated by Korea

But hopefully we'll see a lot of interesting matches ^^

Captains are responsible for their teams availability. The greater team size exists to ensure every team can provide at least four players for each match. If teams can not provide four players for a match, the match will be considered forfeited.
The very last item in the wiki.

It is 3v3 right? Is it a typo or intended?

I call that a bold statement. It's not like you have to face 100 Koreans, you only face 6. And even if they might be quite predominant in this game mode, it does not mean they ultimatively will win. (see OWC and MWC4K)

Playing in a tournament is by far different than playing single player. Also jhlee can hardly defeat entire teams alone.

For 4k, I was very sure it was going to be USA's chance, as soon as I saw the line up for korea that time, I said USA will get 1st, don't think I said it on the thread though. Also I believe mania is one of those games where previous experience helps quite a bit for certain keymodes.

Though saying that, I was being a bit sarcastic, so at most I would say it'll be China/Japan/South Korea for top 3, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philipines can give them a good run for their money though.

Hey now that MWC has opened it's doors is it alright to play for a different country illegally speaking?
is it alright for me to use something like vpn or even cotact the staff for changing my flag because in football
you're playing for another national country and not really from there so i would guess there is nothing wrong with that
i read the registration rules it never said anything about changing my country or representing another so i would like to know
if i can.

You need more than an IP address to change your flag

I already told you, mate:

B: You may only change the country you play for if you provide an official photo ID and documented proof that you currently reside in that country.
So in other words, you'd have to actually move out of your country.

more gimmicky maps please, last year was fun with nano death :^)

The first 8 teams have been added to the wiki! Rules have been adjusted to reflect the amount of rosters we are going to have in this competition! (20, before anyone asks)
Kamikaze
Poland's going to win, just saying

Actually, do we even have enough people willing and able to play? Most people either play 4k with occasional 6k or moved on to other modes/games,
We do have a solid team don't you worry about that.

Updated the wiki again. Three more teams + all temp captains are public now.

No Argentina? Thats sad... D:

I think it is not a good idea to go via competitor selection via country! What if there are players from countries where Osu isn't popular and there is a player that is interested in taking part! I'm one of the only Mania player in South Africa that was eligible to take part and my "pp" score is higher than atleast one contestant participating in the world cup 2015 Mania 7K! Please revisit these criteria Osu! Because it would have been the first time that South Africa would have competed in the Mania World Cup! Some of us have been grinding the game forever just to get the chance to compete!

that's how a world cup works. Thats how the entire tournament is designed. There are plenty of other tournaments out there that do not follow this format.

Korea literally put none of their 4k players in this year because almost all of the good 4k Korea players stopped playing this game lmao. It was just a bunch of mid/high-tier 7k players winging the 4k cup. As for the OWC, I don't even think that many people thought Korea had a chance of winning tbh. Their roster didn't look very daunting once released.

Honestly, it just depends who plays this year and who decides not to. A few countries have a chance this year but I guess we'll see it when it unfolds.
Kamikaze
Also I think it's safe to say that mania is a ton more predictable than standard in a tournament setting. I mean take a look for example at what teams got out of groups in both tournaments based on seedings. Still, this tournament should be closer in late stages than 4K was imo
EtienneXC
Yeah, mania's extremely predictable, especially if you know the roster. I mean, there is a way that the mania cup can be a bit more balanced in terms of map pools and stuff to prevent certain teams from getting knocked out so quickly, but that's another discussion for another time.
Jinjin
It would be nice to have some really heavy o2jam style LN maps along with really heavy BMS style pattern maps in the final mappool. Would be interesting to see how the map selection goes considering that there are those good with noodles and those good with rice.
Kamikaze
All I can say is that we're trying to include all types of maps in the mappools to put more importance on tactics, which can potentially make you win against a stronger team. I hope that will make the cup ever so interesting.

This world cup wont be as interesting as it should be unless Loctav changes the decision he has made regarding certain korean players (for unvalid and biased reasons).

edit: Yeah I think i'm done with this bs... I'll leave this up here until the staff decides to remove it.

I don't think you should really be watching MWC to begin with if you sternly believe that one player is that much better to watch; considering that the MWC is supposed to be a team event anyway. People really shouldn't cheer on specific players (you can, but it shouldn't be your main focus), you should be cheering for the team holistically. Focusing on one player just gives you ideas of blaming other players if the team loses, which is antagonistic, condescending and flat out stupid.

Korea's team is still decent, despite a very good amount of players in that country being barred from the tournament.
