To those with RSI, how do you deal with it?

More importantly, how do you go around with playing osu! with this condition?

I found out that I have RSI after experiencing strain on my neck and shoulders, and my hand usually spazzes out and I can't hold my tablet pen properly that I always adjust it most of the time during play. Now I'm scared to play the game unlike before which I spend around 5+ hours per day.

I guess I just play too much. I started playing osu! standard roughly 2 months ago, then playing 5 hours a day after that

Did you go to a doctor to have it professionally diagnosed?

I highly doubt you have RSI. You probably just have bad posture and your hands haven't gotten used to the additional strain of playing more. Or something.

Those with RSI quit the game and never come back.
Aside from that: Go to a doctor to have it professionally diagnosed. You don't get RSI from racking up 2k playcount in a month - in most cases.

You have to be really unluckly to get rsi.
I'm almost all day on my pc. 2-3 hours of youtube , forums, twitter. And 3-5hrs of osu.
You hands may hurt, but it's most likely because you overused your hand rather than rsi.
Rsi is not that easy to get

I'm back!~~

You guys were kinda right, my doctor just said that it's not 'easy' to get RSI because it's something more severe, but I shouldn't push myself too much either because my current habits could actually lead me soon to having it. It's because I'm actually having 5+ hour sessions up to 3 sessions per day, not just 5+ hours per day
and I'm actually having numbness and pain with my hand even during night when I'm asleep

Anyway, in a case where someone has RSI, how does one actually deal with it?
Could they never play osu! again? :O

You have the same problem as my left hand, but can't recall it's RSI though...
It's more like overused, and somehow some part of your wrist nerve are probably got pinched a little bit (at least that's what my doctor/specialist told)

And for RSI, I guess RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate) treatment should be fine for home remedy (and it could probably take longer than you thought)

Glad to hear that you don't have it (yet :p ).
Maybe just take a break of a week, your hands should be fine after that.

But I was playing Osu for 8 hours MINIMUM just like sleeping on vacations everyday when I was still active and I didn't get any shit disease.

It really hurts. Though I thought that most people would stop playing/rest a good amount before they get RSI because of the intense pain.
Or maybe not and I'm just weak :D .

Unnecesarry to go that far, I can't name 1 professional osu player who quit because of this.(Pretty sure there are some but still, i don't think RSI is that common even amongst top rank players.)

I think lewa, azer, reimu and index all have/had problems with their hands because they played too much.

Reminder that it is not a disease, but rather, an injury. Repetitive Strain Injury
Also, it's not just osu! players that are affected by this, but also as simple as being an office worker or a writer has risks of having RSI. Most likely, it's a combination of certain conditions and factors that could affect one's joints.

Just because your playing habits did not hurt you doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt us if we did the same, too.

But I didn't say that. Anyway there's no way for you to know that until you try straining your hands. Most of the time it's just a tired hand or plain beginner sickness if your hand is aching. I've yet to see a person who doesn't ache their hand or anything for playing on extended periods.

Nevertheless the safest way is to still play less and take breaks between sessions. If you really want to play for let's say, 10 hours, at least divide that to several sessions with a lot of breaks in between. It's not like osu is the only thing you do. But if your hand is very durable like me, well it's time to PLAY MORE 8-)

Right guys, he doesn't have RSI, he just injured his hand through repetitive movement (not RSI tho), glad we have a bunch of E-doctors to determine what conditions he does or doesn't have online.

Yeah. Just remember that having wrist pains does not mean that you have RSI, but it is definitely (and scientifically) a sign which your body tells you stop what you're doing and start taking a rest for a while. We can never know what will happen with our precious hands, so take care of it. :)
