Is mental stamina a thing?

Title. I was playing Aranjuez, and I suddenly couldn't read anymore. I know physical stamina is an issue when playing maps like Sewing Machine, high BPM streams or vibro, but at some point in Aranjuez I started losing my focus and started drifting off. Went from a high S to 92% and almost failed twice.

I play at 30 scroll speed, not sure what else could be affecting this aside from that aside from an internal issue. If anyone knows, please explain this and how can I increase my "mental" focus.

I wouldn't really call that mental "stamina", but you're right with the focus part. It's not uncommon to have trouble focusing on a song after x amount of minutes going by. Just something you have to get use to.

Aranjuez is a combination of both mental stamina and physical stamina anyway - I don't think you should be able to S it given your scores at the moment. The existence of mental stamina is true, but yeah it's more synonymous with "focus" rather than a separate entity. Like what Etienne said, just have to play really long charts to get used to just sheer length. Playing Dragonforce generally helps, Sharpnel has a good amount of break in comparison. DragonForce also sucks more in terms of map quality and song choice, which enhances the amount of focus needed.

What level would you say aranjuez is on terms to other maps? I'm able to S RATO and Cyberstorm on a good day, I feel like I SHOULD (or getting a high A) be S'ing this, I can't tell if I'm bad or I have a stamina problem. Other maps in the endurance training map pack aren't nearly as draining as this and soldiers of the stamina feel physically demanding if anything.

To further elaborate on the context, I will upload a few scores (unranked of course) once I get home. I am currently in class and should not be posting lol

If possible, can someone refer to me to a few maps in specific?

Aranjuez is harder than both of those maps, though RATO and Cyberstorm challenge different skills rather than challenging stamina.

RATO is mainly fast jumpstream with some bursts, not much stamina involved. Cyberstorm (I'm assuming that you're playing the 4K SC? There are multiple Cyberstorm charts) is mainly jacks and fast streams at the end. Both aren't as hard as Aranjuez, and they just test different things overall. Every chart in Endurance Training is easier than Aranjuez, except for 11ELEVEN, Midnight Dancing Horai Girl and arguably Future Dominators. Soldiers of the Stamina is easier than Future Dominators, so I'm assuming that you find both of those tiring.

That being said if you're able to S RATO I think a 92-93 on Aranjuez sounds relatively reasonable. You should improve your ranked scores, man.

Cyberstorm SC of course, but yeah, I suppose not. Your estimate on my appropriate accuracy is just about right:

Aranjuez Song Select

Aranjuez Best Score (Almost failed haha..)

Future Dominators

Dan Seven

Scores posted of the songs noted; my future dominator score is a fluke since I was doing that on the same day I S'd Dan7, which I could not do again for a little while I suppose.

That being said, my stamina looks to be horribad, but not only do I lock up, I also lose focus (redundantly saying the same thing). As Etienne said, I'll have to get used to things like that, but how? Aranjuez is the only song (atleast in my library) that can impose mental pressure at my level, simply said "Slightly out of my comfort zone". Are there any maps like Aranjuez I can practice on that impose the same horrible stamina draining aside from things that are way too hard? (I'm assuming 11ELEVEN and Midnight Dancing Horai Girl are much too hard for me)

@ranked scores, mind block op and *MOST* ranked songs are boring :v

Look for extremely long songs, even ones that aren't quite as hard. Make up for the lack in difficulty with overall length. I don't have any suggestons on actual maps though.

This song gets much harder at second half, so I think it's physical issues

I have mental roadblocks as well, though not due to not being able to focus, but rather just from something like being nervous/anxious. If the song starts building up, there is too much pressure not to miss, or just a complicated pattern, my pinky would start itching and I would choke shortly after. I try to avoid that be just zoning out in a way which I still comprehend what is going on in the map, but I still give in.
