Placement of Equipment

So a few weeks back, I got a new desktop. It was very much needed as the old one had insufficient room for my stuff to go. Now, although the new one has plenty of room, I found that my skill level and overall player level sunk drastically. Now, this is where my question comes in. How much do you think things like equipment and placement has to say when gaming?

yes, they do, but any change takes time to get used to.

I want to change it since I need a deeper desk since i don't have enough room for my tablet and hand to make it comfy.

They make or break my skills in osu! Where my tablet is positioned along with my keyboard is kind of awkward for other people, but for me it feels perfectly natural to have it where I do. So, what I'm trying to say is to mess with it a lot to make it most comfortable for you. Not how the pros do it, how you do it.

I'm the same at the moment, My skill has lowered drastically since I moved my room around. Guess it's all in the head..Either that or I'm just bad :^)

The placebo effect is definetely at play here as well as angle, height, etc at which you sit, hold you stylus/mouse at, look at screen, etc. Best way to counter that is to play as if you don't care in a "spaced out" kind of mood/feeling/state, whatever you want to call it. The moment you realize that you are suddenly doing something right is the moment you start to choke (unless you are good at handling pressure). The method is similiar to maintaining a lucid dream, where if you think too much about it the "dream bubble" pops. I, myself, have difficulties mainitaining such state, so this method might not work for all

I honestly think that positioning plays a big part in how well you can do in certain skill-oriented high-speed games like osu!. This may not apply to everyone, but if you find that you're having trouble after rearranging some stuff, then it could be the case for you.

Basically, as soon as I noticed that this was a thing for me, I try my hardest to realize all the little specifics in the way that I sit, the position of my mouse/keyboard, where my arm is, etc. For you, it would've been better if you paid more attention to these things before you got your new setup, but I guess the best thing to do now is to just try to find a new position that you're most comfortable with playing in, and memorize that position very well.

Of course, this makes you less inclined to adjust your position or playing style if someone tells you there's a better way to do it, but I think it's still useful for playing more consistently.
