Getting pp and ranks by playing 1* and 2* maps

I'm around 3900pp but I like getting ranked score

whenever I complete like 10 easy maps (about 1 star diff) I get +1 rank or sometimes +1pp

Why does this happen and how does it work? :O
Does it have to do with the old score-based ranking system we had years ago?

10k maps. That's some serious farming for only 416pp.

I've got a while lot more than 13k plays total (if you include unranked plays) but that's not 10k plays, that's 10k separate songs played. Considering we have nowhere near 10k ranked mania maps that means you have to farm a crapload of autoconverts. ugh.

The cap seems to be 10k maps. It makes no difference beyond that. I have scores on 3,923 maps, which is about 350 bonus pp. So I can gain 60 more pp by playing 6,000 more maps, landing me in #1873. Playing a reasonable 10 maps a day on DT/NC, it will take me 600 days to reach that. Considering I am loosing about 8 ranks per day, I will loose 4,800 ranks by that time. So my actual rank when I would play 6000 more maps would be worse than playing maps at my skill range.

TL;DR: I DON'T ADVISE THIS!!!
