I just installed the game and downloaded several songs; however, I found them to be far too difficult. I even selected the easiest rated song and it was still too difficult for a newcomer. After this, I went to find an easier map through Pokebis, but was denied the download because of too many recent downloads. There should be a higher allowance for downloads for newcomers like me if you want to promote a higher player base. I found this issue to be very unfriendly to "noobs" and I don't feel any need to wait 4 minutes to download a song that could once again, prove too difficult.

Boo hoo. Suck less and wait.

nice to know the player base is sympathetic

Why would I be sympathetic? The servers have to distribute to everyone, not just you.
One a more helpful note, here are beatmap packs, which are hosted on mediafire: http://osu.ppy.sh/p/packlist

Heavy downloading of beatmaps is taxing on the server so ALL users have restrictions on how many maps they can download at once. You can download beatmap packs which are hosted off server: http://osu.ppy.sh/p/packlist or if you want a higher download limit, you get increased downloads by donating money to support the server: http://osu.ppy.sh/p/support

Things should be better when osu!P2P is released, in case you want individual songs.

About easier difficulties, there have been several discussions about that; some people just don't spend enough of their time mapping easier difficulties because they find it difficult or boring.

Moving to Gameplay & Rankings.

The servers should apply a little more leeway to newcomers, especially when certain maps listed as "easy" are not exactly the best maps to start playing the game. I'm just saying first impressions matter a lot and after downloading several "easy" maps, but not being able to complete any of them followed by having to wait several minutes to find one that can actually be completed doesn't send a great message.

Go get beginner series I guess... Is that on the pack list?

You can download more beatmaps per minute than you can play. Consider that for a small moment. Also, if you download too many you only need to wait an average of five minutes.

Also consider that osu! costs more to run per month than you probably make in a year.

Also consider we have torrents and beatmap packs if you can't wait that five minutes.

If you still feel the need to complain, contact me personally at pe@ppy.sh and we will take this up. (I don't recommend you doing this; it will probably end in tears for one of us and I can guarantee it won't be me).

Aren't you guys being a little too mean?

When I first started Osu I had no idea about the beatmap packs, I didn't find out about them until about 2 weeks later.

I didn't know I could use z/x instead of clicking for 2 weeks.

I didn't know I could plug in my tablet till a month after I first started playing Osu.

My point is, not everyone clicks everything on a website. I only recently found out about the Osu store in fact (and I may buy the pippy button shirt just because it looks awesome)

I didn't register for the forums for months, I didn't even READ the forums for months, I came on played a few songs, then came off.

You guys are being unnecessarily mean towards a potential new player. Maybe there should be a more in depth tutorial as well as the inclusion of some easy maps in the Osu client to help about beginners instead of "WTF NOOB WHY U NO CLICK EVERYTHING ON WEBSITE GET AWAY"

I was noob for 2 weeks or more, etc
>Implying you didn't deserve it because you were ignorant.

>Implying his whining is your business and should be justified. Let him be, people find out on their own. If he can't manage an Easy and has feels like he has to make a thread about it instead of getting better, he can go and PM the mapper or something.

instead of "WTF NOOB WHY U NO CLICK EVERYTHING ON WEBSITE GET AWAY"
>Implying the above posts are all flaming him. Hey, they were justified in more ways than one.

Very disappointing thread indeed.

I don't get why you're defending the "Let's be a dick to a new guy who's having trouble" stance?

It couldn't possibly hurt to bundle in a few VERY easy songs into the Osu client, apart from the tutorial. Hell I'd even be happy to find 10-20 easy songs to include into the osu client if you'd like.

Faust, your attitude is not very nice towards new players, you were new once, everyone was.

It's like that guy on WoW who is genuinely trying is hardest and being berated constantly by the guy who's played it since launch because he's not pulling 20k dps even though he just hit 80 this morning.

My point is, shouldn't you guys stop being so mean towards new players because the learning curve is a little difficult, instead of just saying "You suck, just die" shouldn't you at least attempt to help them?

What did you do.. leave it unplugged on your desk...?

It is purposely not visible because I don't want to over-promote. There is a button on the front-page, though.

You need to register to download beatmaps. osu! tells you this.

Did you even read his post and discern the attitude that came with it?

If you provide 10-20 easy songs with full distribution rights, I will *very* happily bundle a few (depending on filesize restrictions).

No-one said this. Please avoid misquoting.

Hate to say this, but you are trolling here Zetta.
