Hi guys! I'm pretty good at taiko, and alright at mania and standard, but thinking about it now....I don't really know how to play CtB? Now I get the concept, move your little fruit ryuuta to catch the fruit and stuff, but right now I can barely even handle an easy salad :o So what are some techniques that I can use? And also, how are you supposed to use the dash fruit? That has always confused me as well :s

why you not read the osu wiki about ctb...

Play the Standard-converted maps for beginner instead of playing the CtB Specific maps

Just keep playing. You'll eventually start to notice patterns or the necessary spacing needed to move correctly and catch fruit.

I found that using this skin helped me a lot since it makes the fruit into simpler shapes.

The skin doesn't matter at all (imo), I use the casual skin with custom colours and I'm pretty decent.

To get better, it's as alienflybot said. I'd recommend skipping Cup and Salad difficulties though, and after getting used to AR8/9 try Platter/Rain difficulties.

In case you didn't find out already, the red fruit, more commonly known as hyperdash, should be used with a dash button. There are some ultra-rare cases where you don't actually have to dash to use them properly though, but they are pretty much nonexistent.

i can't totally agree with that, there is some benefit in using different skins in CTB, i find it easier for me to focus on the patterns if all fruits have the same color and an easy shape....and also did you ever see the 1ztokageFL Skin...having the fruit above the hitbox when playing Low AR HDFL is like future-vision xD

Nope, haven't seen that skin. I suppose if it gives you future-vision then using this skin is banned anyway?

1)Get some experience at Standard BEFORE you jump to other modes.
2)Play easier maps before you go to harder ones, like Cup or salad.
3)Practice,PRACtice,PRACTICE!

...why? All your skills from std dont apply here (with exception of rythm sense which you can get from about any other rythm game or just listening to music even)

For me the standard skin is mostly fine. The only thing I've had trouble with it the yellow grapes (?) being camouflaged with bananas. This has cost me a few FCs.

Try custom CtB skins, it will definitely benefit you.

Most of them turns fruit into circles, or squares, and suchlike, which is easier to read.

Not only changing fruits' color but also the health bar or whatever that's called, seems to be a little annoying to my sight. I've seen some really distracting ones like Dusk's which is why he recommends using his skin while disabling the game interface, fact that I also find quite inconvenient since I like to keep track of my accuracy (getting those SS). So my solution for it was to add the health bar from 224's skin to mine which is simply a transparent one with a thin white line indicating where you're at.

There are many things that help you improve your game but it's only a matter of trying them out and get a hang of what fits you the best.

I think skins kinda do affect your play.
My current skin makes it so that the fruit colour is brighter.
Since I play with the background dimmed, I find it easier to see the fruits.
Just my opinion 8-)
