I need a romance anime that actually progresses along with the 2 people rather than the series ending with just a kiss or them finally getting together. Please don't recommend something like 'Yosuga no Sora' or stuff like that and please provide some info on why to watch it rather than just "dis show was da best, watch it"

While you're at it, Clannad After Story and Toradora fit your query just perfectly. Nagi no Asukara might be a thing for you as well, Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo could be one too.
But consider Clannad as your first option, it's the best by excellence in many ways.

Ai Yori Aoshi... Very good old-style romance. The VN is also just as enriching as the anime.
