So I've spent a few hours today looking at various mania maps across all difficulties and examined how the earned pp is related to different factors.
Here's what I've learned:
Overall plot of SR and earned pp (all scores that were sampled were in the 960K~1M, 99~100% accuracy) with a best fit model with R squared value (correlation coefficient) of 0.999
(Extrapolation is probably effective / accurate up to 9*)
Keep in mind that SR is not the only variable that affects mania pp, there are other factors (namely, the amount of hit objects & OD)
What I've learned:
The hit object amount drastically changes the amount of pp awarded at lower SR (around 1~2* range), as marathon maps may award much more pp than their regular counterparts
The OD does not significantly alter the amount of pp at all SR
osu! calculates your pp based on the Star Rating listed on the forum page, NOT the star rating shown in-game.
According to my best fit curve, you would need to have about 960~970K (which is usually 99% accuracy or higher) on a star rating of at least 7.47 in order to get 1000pp.
Hope this was interesting to some of you!
