GENERAL

  2. Your Timing is wrong. Change it to this: BPM:207.02 Offset:2195
  3. Try CTrl+Shift+A and you will see this: http://puu.sh/hANN8/291b568558.png
    ~Error 1 - Kiai unsnapped or something with the word unsnapped. It means It's not place directly on a tick(blue/red/white)
    ~Error 2 - The mp3 you are using is a lot longer than the part which is mapped - It seems in easy and normal, you didn't map the last part. It should be the same with all difficulties.
    ~Error 3 - Countdown conflicts with Infinity Clock - Uncheck the countdown and Also, uncheck widescreen support here: http://puu.sh/hANNe/ae619ad03f.png
    ~Error 4 - Kiai is toggled on for less than 15 seconds - Because there's only like 0.5 second difference betweek kiais, remove the kiais on 00:39:087 , 00:39:232 and also on 01:25:529 , 01:25:673

QUICK OVERVIEW OF EASY

  1. No stacking in easy
  2. Always start on a white tick
  3. 00:01:037 - No stacking and Don't use 5 circles in a row. even it follows the music. You need sacrifice some because it's just an easy diff.
  4. If you're gonna use a spinner in easy. You should give a 1.50 seconds break.
  5. 00:02:484 - Map here~ it doesn't suit a break
  6. 00:10:296 - Remove spinner instead map here :3
  7. 00:14:637 - No stacking. I saw a lot stacked but you can find them yourself :P
  8. 00:19:266 , 00:27:947 , 00:36:917 , 00:46:176 , 00:56:593 - Spinner in unecessary, remove and map.
  9. 00:48:781 - Another waste. Better if something is mapped here
  10. 01:18:412 - This is an example of a clear problem in distance spacing because the previous slider is close to the previous circle and they are both on the white tick but then in this part it increased it's spacing. Try to stick to one distance spacing. If you want space then use 1.2x
  11. 01:34:930 - Nothing mapped starting here. That's unrankable. If you want to stop here then cut your mp3.
  12. You have a lot of inconsistent NCs(New Combos). New Combos are the color change in sliders and circles. You see the white ticks, right? The New Combos are always place at the Big white tick(from the word big means that the longest). For example, here at 00:24:219 - This is a big white tick and the NC should be placed here. I commonly use 4 combos only but sometimes 5, depends.
  13. Don't forget Ctrl+Shift+A. There should not be any errors

QUICK OVERVIEW OF NORMAL

  1. 00:02:484 - Same with easy
  2. Spinner is okay here at normal but don't overuse spinners like here at 00:27:368 - Also give time like 1 second before to start a circle/slider because it's just a normal not a hard :3
  3. 00:48:781 - Same w/ easy
  4. 00:58:185 - Don't start at red ticks even in hard.
  5. Also, Check all spinners, give 1 second break before the start of a slider/circle. It seems some spinners you added has like 0.50 second break.
  6. 01:34:930 - Same w/ easy
  7. Also, Don't forget about the NCs
  8. Don't forget Ctrl+Shift+A. There should not be any errors.

Before I begin, let me tell you an advice. If I were you, I wouldn't want to try ranking my first beatmap. My heisei map is the one I want ranked, but it's not even close to be done, because it's one of my first maps. I don't want to disappoint you, just letting you know. Also, If you improve your, maps will more likely be noticed more often etc, so I'd just continue to map till I get better and then try to rank a map. Anyway I'll try to help you.

[Normal]
  1. 00:39:290 (4) - NC?

  1. 00:10:813 - From here to the very end, most of the elements start from a blue tick, which shouldn't be like this. So you should move every element from this part with 1 tick to the right, example: from this to that.But, not every element needs to be moved, I'll list down the elements which you are not gonna move.

  3. 00:21:320 (1,2) - Don't move these.
  4. 00:26:247 (6) - This is an exception, you want to move this with 2 ticks to the right, like this.

I'll say this: for a first map, I think this song might be too ambitious for you. Songs with high BPM like this one are difficult to map, especially on new mappers. There are many problems on this map that made it difficult for me to explain.

Since this is a long mod, so I'm splitting it into three parts. This part focuses on the general stuff and the Easy diff. The second post focuses on the Normal diffs. The third post focuses on the harder diffs. Since this is long, there will be parts I might miss or doesn't make sense, so bear with me.

I've put a lot of effort on this mod. You need guidance on mapping. Sadly, I only find problems, not teach you. I'm not good at teaching nor have the time, so I will try my best to find problems and explain the solutions. I recommend searching for a more committed, experienced modder to help you on mapping.

Let's begin.


[General]
  1. The band name is stylized as HERO (all letters capitalized).
  2. The kanji Title of the song is テノヒラ. Tenohira should be moved to Romanized Title.
  3. Include the following to Tags (remember to include them in all diffs!):

    • -Sacred Song- Palm of the Hand jrock j-rock opening theme
      (The guest beatmaper's name (you must credit them); the English translation of title; the type of genre this song is in; this song was played in the opening theme for the anime)
  4. Either use the kanji name of Fairy Tail: フェアリーテイル to Source or to Tags. If you're using the kanji name as the Source, move Fairy Tail to Tags.
  5. Disable the letterbox during breaks.
  6. (Optional) The yellow and light green colors should be slightly darker.

  7. Technically the Timing Point should begin at 00:01:031
  8. There are beats in all diffs that are outside the Timing Point.
  9. 00:02:480 - Why is there a 8 second break within the first 2 seconds of the map? This hurts pacing of the map. Either all diffs should map over the break or remove the 2 second beats and 00:10:886 - should be the new start of the map.
  10. (Optional) 02:32:908 - Why end the map there? I recommend continuing the map until 02:51:458 .
  11. ALL diffs must have consistent breaks. (More details below)
  12. ALL diffs use spinners way too much. Reduce them. (More details below)
  13. ALL diffs MUST have hitsounds.
[Easy]
  1. Strange to see this diff uses the most spinners out of all of them.
  2. All the combos are too long, but some looks intentional. Nonetheless, I'll point them out.

  3. 00:02:480 - Like I said before, either map the break or remove 00:01:031 (1,2,3) .
  4. 00:10:306 (1) - This spinner is unnecessary. Remove and instead add a circle at 00:11:465 .
  5. 00:19:581 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map it over.
  6. (Note) 00:21:320 (1) - This slider is called linear because it creates a sharp corner. It's often difficult to make it look appealing. Sadly, I think a lot of mappers tend to misuse it and harms the map. This is noticeable in your map, especially in your harder diffs. I recommend avoiding this type of slider in all diffs unless done on purpose.
  7. 00:24:798 (1) - This slider should be directly under (4).
  8. 00:27:986 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map it over.
  9. 00:35:812 (6) - This slider doesn't make sense. Instead, remove the slider, add a circle followed by 3 more circles shown below:
  10. 00:37:551 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map it over.
  11. 00:42:478 - Add a circle here to emphasize the vocals.
  12. 00:45:667 - Add a circle before and after the (6).
  13. 00:46:536 (1) - The spinner should start at 00:46:246 .
  14. 00:56:681 (1) - Unnecessary spinner
  15. 01:01:318 (3) - This slider doesn't make sense. Stretch it so the end of the slider hits the main beat.
    • ^ (Note) This point, 01:07:695 (1,2) , 02:23:923 (1) , and 01:27:983 (3) - are the only places where you find this type of slider. While the sliders don't make sense, they are an example for this explanation. If you're going to add a part of the map not seen anywhere else, you might as well do more of it, or none at all. Repetition is important, but only in certain amounts. Do too much of it, the map will look lazy and not fun to play. Too little of it, the map feels pointless. This applies to all diffs.
  16. 01:02:767 (4) - New combo. This slider doesn't make sense either. Turn it to a circle.
  17. 01:05:956 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map over it.
  18. 01:07:695 (1,2) - These sliders don't make sense. Remap this part.
  19. 01:22:187 (6) - Again, this slider doesn't make sense. I recommend doing the same thing to the previous suggestion in 00:35:812 .
  20. 01:23:926 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map over it.
  21. 01:30:012 - A circle here?
  22. 01:32:041 - ^ Same as above
  23. 01:32:621 - ^
  24. 01:32:911 (1) - The spinner should start at 01:32:621 .
  25. 01:43:055 - In some diffs, the break ends here, but not this diff. Other diffs have more breaks. One diff has a longer break than this one. Please keep the breaks consistent in all diffs. You need to choose how long the break need to be for all diffs.
  26. 01:52:330 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map over it.
  27. 01:57:547 (5) - This is a misplaced slider shape. Keep it curved instead.
  28. 02:01:315 (3) - From this point on, the diff suddenly start adding 1/2 beat placement. Like I said about repetition, either do it throughout the map or remove it.
  29. 02:01:605 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map over it.
  30. 02:16:677 (1) - This slider doesn't make sense. Delete it and map over it.
  31. 02:18:995 (1) - Unnecessary spinner. Please map over it.
  32. 02:22:184 (2) - Remove the slider. Add a circle.
  33. 02:22:763 (3) - Move this slider back to 02:22:474 .
  34. 02:23:923 (1) - This slider doesn't make sense. Remove it and map over it.
  35. 02:30:009 (2) - Remove this slider. Map over it.
  36. 02:32:908 - Like I said before, you should continue to map the song.
Note that I didn't mentioned anything about combos and beat placement in this diff. They're too long, but that's for another time. I still suggest you should deal with it by adding new combos.


This is why I took a while to mod, and this is just the Easy diff. Your map is more problematic than I thought, so I'm willing to help you. Once again, this song might be too difficult for you. I suggest backing off this song and map a slower, more manageable song. Once you gained more experience, you can return and continue mapping.

Hi there~ modding from our queue~

I'll have to say, I have many things to mention about your map. Maybe this is the reason why I took long :/

General
  1. Don't enable 'Widescreen support' in song setup > design tab, usually only used when there is a storyboard present, big or small. Since your map doesn't contain one, remove it.
  2. Add in hitsounds. Hitsounds are like the, one of the essential elements of a mapset, as it spices up the map alot. Usually to match the background music's instrument. I can provide some of my hitsounds in my map. (Take soft-hitclap and soft-hitfinish. Hitclap is the snare of the drum, I suggest you add it in every upbeat, and for finish it is the cymbal, add it in whenever there is a cymbal in the background)
  3. All difficulties tags must be the same. If you go into AiMod(ctrl+shift+a), you can find that tags are conflict with all other diffs. Make sure to change that.

General comments for all difficulties
  1. Normal hit hitsound should be louder.
  2. WAY TOO long combos or poor new combos management.
  3. If you are having a common break at the early stage of the mapset, why isn't easy the same? I suggest to use the same break times.
  4. As going into the harder difficulties, notes are not placed in the right spot. For example Hard, why are the notes all placed on blue tick when the beat is all on red or white tick?

Easy

General comment from Normal till Infinity Clock(extra)
I decided to generalize this. If I don't it is going to be A LOOOOOOOOOOONG mod.
  1. Is the difficulty name on "Sacred Song's NormaL" intended?
  2. You are leaving spaces which can be used to add some notes in. Especially in easier difficulties, new players tend to get more mistakes if they get unnecessary life drain.
  3. The flow is somewhat awkward to play with. Basically you need to make more notes get 'blanketed' on top of each other. Example:




    (all from Normal difficulty.)
  4. This also applies to Easy in some parts, but don't try to map according to the vocal only. It makes the map look disoriented in some parts.
  5. Even for harder diffculties, or even for extra(Infinity Clock), don't overuse circles in 1 combo. Use varieties of patterns using sliders too.
  6. Always keep in mind, New combos are supposed to be placed down at downbeats, or the big white ticks usually on easier diffculties, or in the change of accent in the song in harder difficulties. Not following this rule can make the combo REALLY LONG up to 20, and that is not you want.
  7. When using 1/2 sliders on easier diffculties, snap them properly so they play on the exact same part like the song.
  8. Your streams in higher difficulties are... extremely weird. Streams are usually placed when there is some fast drum beats or guitar solo, rapping vocal parts, etc. You overused the stream especially in Infinity Clock, and it makes the map really weird.
  9. You should not make jumps between 1/4 spaces.
  10. Difficulties of each difficulties. I mean the things like approach rate. Generally speaking, faster the song, higher the diffculty rate of each diffculty should be. Let me list down the appropriate difficulties.
    Easy:
    1. HP drain rate: 3
    2. Overall difficulty: 3

      For both Normals:
    3. (ONLY FOR SACRED SONG'S NORMAL) Approach rate: 5 or 5.5
    4. (ONLY FOR YOUR NORMAL) Overall difficulty: 4

      Hard:
    5. (just a suggestion) Overall difficulty or HP drain rate(change 1 of them if you want to): 7

      Insane:
    6. Circle size: 4
    7. Approach rate: 9
    8. Both approach rate and overall difficulty : 7

      Infinity Clock:
    9. Nothing wrong here :D
    10. In this song, the drum beats are prominent over other instruments. Consider changing or placing your notes according to the drum. Especially Infinity Clock, if you arrange jumps according to the drum, it would look nice.

Because you haven't used Distance snap, you have to pay ultra attention to the distance between each of the objects you place. Maintaining it keeps the map neat and clear and is especially important for Normal and Easy maps.
Distances can change, when the slider velocity changes, but its not recommended to change it when there is no SV change.
So in 00:01:031 (1,2,3,4) you used a rather wide distance for the beats, which I find good for Normal maps.
However at 00:06:248 (7,8,1) you use this spacing but later on in similar sound patterns (00:13:204 (4,5,6) ,00:15:523 (2,3) , 00:16:102 (3,4) , 00:17:262 (5,6) , 00:21:319 (1,2,3,4,5) etc. ) you don't. You should settle on one of these spacings and use them throughout you whole map (I suggest this 02:32:038 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - distance, but you can choose yourself :D )

However afterwards you make jumps nearly everywhere, though you should keep the normal distances, too, because if you have too many jumps (and that is the case around the middle-end) it looks all randomly scattered. I could get all the jumps and sliders you had there but I did have problems figuring out what direction the flow was going, because sometimes it was just going forth and back. I would avoid linear jumps like this 00:57:552 (1,2,3) all the time, it gets confusing after a while, these here 01:01:320 (3,4) , 01:02:480 (7,8) are fine. Sudden jumps out of nowhere and with this distance 01:10:016 (5,6,7,8) are also meh, so I suggest you make them a little more circular or triangular instead of zigzags:

And of course the next combo would have to be placed a little bit different but lets leave it for now. :lol:

I think I know, why some segments in here are on the blue lines instead of on the white lines. Its because of the BMP. If you have changed it, there should be no problem anymore and the longass combos I listed here just need to be dragged a little bit to fit in the rhythm again.

00:26:973 (1,2,3) - you overlap here, but I think no overlap fits better. (This distance is nice 00:21:320 (3,4,5,6) )
00:25:958 (2,3) - this gap is not wide enough to make it clear the rhythm makes a pause there
00:32:045 (1,2) - ^
00:40:741 (6) - not entirely in the bow
00:42:335 (4,5) - nice jump! These are cool, visible and neat.
However afterwards you make jumps nearly everywhere, though you should keep the normal distances, too, because if you have too many jumps (and that is the case around the middle-end) it looks all randomly scattered. I could get all the jumps and sliders you had there but I did have problems figuring out what direction the flow was going, because sometimes it was just going forth and back. I would avoid linear jumps like this 00:57:552 (1,2,3) all the time, it gets confusing after a while, these here 01:01:320 (3,4) , 01:02:480 (7,8) are fine. Sudden jumps out of nowhere and with this distance 01:10:016 (5,6,7,8) are also meh, so I suggest you make them a little more circular or triangular instead of zigzags:

And of course the next combo would have to be placed a little bit different but lets leave it for now. :lol:

01:38:059 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,1,2,3,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - 1/4 beat to the right
01:43:054 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - from 6th object on it feels weird to play, because its strictly the same. But leave it, if you want to keep it for now, its just some random opinion of mine. :lol:
01:44:214 wanna map this section, too? I mean its Insane and I think this pause takes the fun//slapped
01:52:474 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - This is what I meant ^. I find no flow in this. Also, 7 and 8 throw off the groove.
01:57:402 (3,4,5,6) - This is good.
02:05:517 (7,8,9,10,11) - avoid this.
02:14:937 (5) - Feels out of place. Either you think of a different way to fix it, or extend it till 02:15:517 and delete the next slider.
02:28:849 (2,3,4,5) - not this kind of jump here. Its hard enough to figure out the rhythm alone and 3 and 4 are too extreme, I think

Let me just not mod Infinity Clock, becasue I'm not qualified enough :?

Ah. Well basically the long white lines mark a full beat.
The short white lines a half beat.
A red line marks one fourth of the beat.
A blue line 1/8th of it.

Putting the beats on a blue line means that the beat at this part does not land on a full or half beat. Sometimes people put them on blue lines, because they match the lyrics, but in this case I don't think that is the case. Putting them on blue lines make the beats appear earlier than they are supposed to.

Overlapping is when an object is partly lying over another object. Depending on your mapping style you can choose to overlap your objects prettily or avoid it by constantly blanketting them.
Overlaps make sense, when you make streams for example. You gotta click them quickly, so the overlaps help reducing the distance between the beats.
You can also overlap sliders, to make it look nice (eg. In your hard diff: 02:16:683 (4,5) )
