So, basically, I've been playing osu! for a little bit now, about an actual playtime of around 2.5 months, and I've been getting better rather quickly(531PP atm). However, for some reason, I've been doing terrible in the last few weeks. My wrists start constantly hurting nearly the instant I start playing, I can't seem to grip the mouse right no matter what I do(I normally do palm), and I make absolutely stupid mistakes when playing. It's gotten bad to the point where just the prospect of playing it has almost no appeal to me.

I've never had this happen when playing a game that I enjoyed. I want to play it more, but it seems like this problem is just driving a wedge between me and the osu!. For info, I use a Logitech G500, have been for about 4-5 years and it still functions near-perfectly, and as previously mentioned, I use a palm grip. If anyone has had this problem before or can help me figure what's wrong with me/the game/equipment, that'd be awesome. And no, I have not made any new recent changes to desk, mouse, or seating setup, so I doubt that's the issue.

sounds like you should ask a doctor, not osu! forums.

If you are underperforming, take a break and come back when you feel like it. Pushing it will probably lead to frustration. And more pain.

Ah, I should have mentioned this. Yes, when this started happening, I did take a break for a few days since I had kind of been binging on osu! quite a bit, but when I came back, I just had the same problem.

As for the suggestion about a doctor, I'm not sure. I have no problems doing anything else or playing other games besides osu!, and the problem was not gradual by any means- it pretty much came out of nowhere. It also has not really worsened or eased, it just happens quicker when I play.

If You're playing fine with other games than osu!, doesn't mean that You shouldn't see a doctor (also the fact that Your wrists constantly hurt while playing)

I had the same problem like yours (happen all of sudden after a night) months ago. And I couldn't even play properly for 4-5 months.

So, best advice = go see a doctor...

If your wrists are hurting, definitely take a break until they are feeling better. My right wrist started hurting pretty bad once before, and I continued to play, until the point where I couldn't even bend my wrist, and I had to see a doctor for it (a cyst formed over my wrist which basically made movement of my wrist impossible). If your wrist still hurts, check if a lump is forming over it just in case it's the same problem I had.

Well, seems the general consensus is to see a doctor. I'll see about getting an appointment at some point. I appreciate the feedback so far!

Have fun at the doctor.

It might be RSI syndrome :o

Sigh..... what is the logic behind these kind of posts?
I mean, if you have ANY kind of pain, you don't bloody go and ask for help from a bunch of 13 year-old weebs who barely know how to change their own nappies, let alone help you with their vast medical knowledge. Just go and ask your parents, or call your home doctor if you have one.... seriously, is it THAT hard not even turning on your brain, but your common sense alone?

RSI is not a syndrome, you're probably confusing it with Carpal tunnel.

Because I would expect that somebody on here has gone through a similar situation at some point. I didn't immediately think of going to a doctor because it literally never bothers me except when I play osu!. You should drink more water, might dilute some of that salt.

And what do you expect them to tell you that you wouldn't already know? They told you to rest, so unless you're a bloody mongrel, you knew that piece of information before you even posted this thread. You definitely don't have a terminal disease, that's for sure.
I give up.

Because the diagnosis could be something that's easily fixed, which saves me having to spend money to go see a doctor over something that, at least for the moment, marginally affects me. It's a lot easier and only takes a few unused minutes for me to just see if somebody else had the problem before and solved it through a different method rather than driving a half hour for a check-up. Maybe you should go drink some water.
