Figured the long-running and popular magical girl franchise deserved a thread and since the new series Go! Princess Precure has just begun now is the perfect time.
First Impressions: I was expecting this Go! Princess to have a Fresh Precure vibe but is seem this one rather seems to be following unique territory and am keen to see where this takes the series. Can't say I'm too happy about the cures not having matching gowns and the jarring CGI bothers me but this is only the first episode so I'll wait and see. After the smack in the face that was the love interest conclusion in Happiness Charge I sure hope the princesses get their prince.
Short Precure FAQ
What is precure? Precure is an magical girls series started in 2004 and has been running consistently since then, as a general rule every year a new season begins with a brand new cast of characters and no ties to the previous series' with the exemptions of Yes! Precure 5 Gogo and Futari wa Precure Max heart. The series is targeted towards a young female demographic (Around 9-12) but that is no reason to be turned off as anyone can enjoy the bright colourful cast and dedicated fanbase.
Where to start? Searching online will result on plenty of different guides as to where to start but as a general rule I recommend people watch the most recent series as one episode a week is far less intimidating than a whole 50 episode series while not the best the most recent are very well polished as the series has developed and learned from past mistakes. From there if you want to tackle the rest I suggest starting on Heartcatch, Smile or Futari wa Precure but feel free to look into more detailed explanations why or even choose on whim like 'this precure is cute.'
