Figured the long-running and popular magical girl franchise deserved a thread and since the new series Go! Princess Precure has just begun now is the perfect time.

Short Precure FAQ
What is precure? Precure is an magical girls series started in 2004 and has been running consistently since then, as a general rule every year a new season begins with a brand new cast of characters and no ties to the previous series' with the exemptions of Yes! Precure 5 Gogo and Futari wa Precure Max heart. The series is targeted towards a young female demographic (Around 9-12) but that is no reason to be turned off as anyone can enjoy the bright colourful cast and dedicated fanbase.

Where to start? Searching online will result on plenty of different guides as to where to start but as a general rule I recommend people watch the most recent series as one episode a week is far less intimidating than a whole 50 episode series while not the best the most recent are very well polished as the series has developed and learned from past mistakes. From there if you want to tackle the rest I suggest starting on Heartcatch, Smile or Futari wa Precure but feel free to look into more detailed explanations why or even choose on whim like 'this precure is cute.'

First Impressions: I was expecting this Go! Princess to have a Fresh Precure vibe but is seem this one rather seems to be following unique territory and am keen to see where this takes the series. Can't say I'm too happy about the cures not having matching gowns and the jarring CGI bothers me but this is only the first episode so I'll wait and see. After the smack in the face that was the love interest conclusion in Happiness Charge I sure hope the princesses get their prince.

What I got in Anime Suggestion Thread--wait it was you?!

Still I didn't expect a Precure thread xD
Thing is, do you even know the Doremi series? The staff behind Doremi, now past Anime, are the people behind Precure, the present series.

I wonder if anyone had a shot at a Precure. *patience overkill--it'll take a whole lot of time to wait for Pri Para, Heartcatch Precure! and Aikatsu! to take their spot in the HDD*

I feel like I should watch it, but it is so long.

It is super intimidating but the fact that it essentially restarts every year means you can ignore the backlog and just watch one episode a week with no worry of getting up to date. I started a few years ago and have managed to see over 200 episodes just by watching once a week of course I also worked on the backlog then, but I don't think precure is a series to watch with a completionist mindset.

Because I can't let the topic go to the second page.
Now I'm thinking Precure isn't my type. Dunno why. Maybe because it's like saving an important thing from the bad stuff, let's say, in general (I wanted to reference Super Mario Galaxy 2)?

Fourth episode of Go Princess is out and we've seen all three in action. Cure Twinkles popularity above the others is definitely apparent around the internet, however it's likely a fourth Precure will come around during the midway point of the series and might bop her from first.

Noticing alot of similarities with this one and Fresh Precure. Starting out with a team of three, dance lessons again etc.

This community doesn't even think of what Precure IS, do they?

Also expect slow progress, high school (second year and soon third year which, alone, is hell) and stuttering connection. Unless I know Precure won't let me down (Pretty Rhythm anyone? Only Anime I obtained without completing for the first time).

Precures popularity has been dropping constantly since Smile, I only really made the thread to see if there are any precure fans who browse this forum and the fact that there are essentially none doesn't really surprise, me since anime fans are mostly only prepared to watch 12 and 24ish episode shows. The series is intimidatingly long and holds a position like One piece or Detective Conan where it doesn't look like it will ever end, although I don't think it will reach it's 15th year anniversary atm. Alongside that it has a niche appeal. I'm sad that no-one decided to just pick it up tho.
No need to keep 'Necro'ing this thread Baka Tenshi

I really liked Precure. It was one of the first anime I watched alongside Tokyo Mew Mew, but now . . . it's just too like, how can I say, childish?

It's still nice, but for a kid I'll say it's much nicer.

I personally think it's the best approach to a villain of the week sort of show.
The 'resurrection' of a few should be dead characters plus the completely directionless romances really frustrates me though.
This however made the only scene where a precure bleeds from a battle wound pretty shocking.
I would like to see a more adult directed precure series but if characters were dying every episode or it went down an ecchi path it I feel other qualities would suffer for it.
