[OSU! Mania] New type of the Grade System.

Hello, I'm a korean osu!mania player.

Now, mania have a grade system by ACC.
E.g., if you reach 95% acc, then you get S grade.

I think, there are better ways to grade.
That is, "Grade by Score".

As You know, jubeat, IIDX and many other games grade by score.
Of course, there are many game who grade by ACC.
But, they have very pricise ACC system, e.g. DJMAX.

OUS!mania have note score 300 and 300g, but they have both 100% ACC.
It's little weird.

Many players want to get SS grade, hence they try to get 100% ACC.
However, sometimes (by mistake?) they renew their score without SS grade.
For some people, it's very upset situation.
(They use PF, but it's not so good way to enjoy the game, I think.)

I think, score is more important than ACC in osu!mania.
More exactly, "How many 300g's I got" is very important.

So, I suggest a grade system by score.

Here is an example.

Under 600k: D
600K~: C
800K~: B
900K~: A
950K~: S (from C to S, considering the ACC grade that right now using)
970K~: SS (considering score balance of 300 and 300g)
990K~: SSS
1M: P (from Perfect xD)

The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean that we musn't implement that.

I'm all in for this, would also love to see lower ranks (similar to lr2):
~500k: D
~400k: E
~300k and lower: F

Also good way to avoid getting D's only with EZ/HT/NF it could be percantage of max score

You want silly grades like SSS and P, you gotta do that for ALL game modes, not just mania. But that would make the entire grade system complicated as is. People are already way confused with grades not correlating to the PP scores.

PP is irrelevant for mania. Is is based on star difficulty, but star difficulty can only give a wide guess. Furthermore, all key modes are merged together.
I can get S on 4.5 stars on 4k
There are a few 7k maps, 4star where I can get S
But there are 3star maps 7k where I get B,

Current grade system is pretty lackluster for mania.

Basically it is :

C : did not understand the patterns and mashed away
B : tried to read the song, but very hard for the player, lots of misses, probably mashed away some patterns
A : can do decently on most of the song but inconsistent accuracy / regular misses
S : does not have trouble playing the song
SS : no room for error, almost perfect score.

It is very inconvenient because often you assume you did well on a song because you got an S, but an S could mean anything between 880k and 990k...

Actually I think grade = accuracy is appropriate for mania.

I'll explain myself

In bemani games such as DDR, IIDX, jubeat... you get grade based on your score... BUT
in those games your score is completely tied to your accuracy. Combo has no influence, there's no penaltly received for misses.

In mania however same accuracy give different scores because of the bonus score system based on not-missing notes for a while.

This is why mania needs to have grade = accuracy.

Now I think the accuracy tiers need to be revised, there's a HUGE difference between 99.xx% play and 95.xx% play, and they both give S

In games like IIDX, the grade are scarce (AAA = 88.88%, AA = 77.77%, A = 66.66% and so on) but for a reason.
JGREAT (MAX300) give 100% acc, GREAT (OD10 300) give 50% acc, rest gives nothing.
That way, even 80% is good play

But in mania, it's very easy getting 98%+ when you are above the level of a song, because 300 gives 100% acc
Thus less than 90% acc is really poor play.

I think SSS and E grades would be useful for narrowing the gaps between grades


Unrelated note :
Something I would like to see is :

Create new sorting in beatmap selection : By score.
The existing "By ranked achieved"sort is inconvenient for the reasons listed above.

there is actually a request somewhere for a SSS rank for osu!mania where you get a perfect 1,000,000 points. i don't really see a reason why that can't happen. the P for Perfect though, not so much

how about based on percentage of max obtainable score then?
