Mapping Tips for Beginner Mappers?

Hey, so I've been playing osu! for awhile and have always wanted to make my own maps; recently I decided to give it a shot. Through actually playing the game I've found myself hitting a good amount of maps that were made in a style that I rather disliked and have found some just unplayable for me personally due to how they were mapped. I was wondering if I could get any tips, from the absolute basics to a few more advanced techniques, on mapping so the end result of my efforts come out nice and enjoyable for modern players.

Any and all help is super appreciated! :)

Steal ideas from other mappers first to improve your skill. Eventually you'll be able to find a style of your own. I personally find that the fastest way to improve at mapping.

Also mod and analyze maps to see what works and what doesn't, ask others for mods to understand your mistakes, etc.

Mapping, just like any other things, takes long time to be good at it. Just take your time and you should be able to improve.

Good luck!
