I'm not completely sure if this topic is appropriate for this board, but I'm leaving it here because it's relative to osu!mania in particular.
As a primarily 7K player, I'm far more interested in downloading a map that has more 7K difficulties than downloading a map that has more 4K difficulties. Moreover, I'd like to suggest a key-based search functionality in the advanced search bar. Seeing as how this filter pertains specifically to o!m, there are multiple problems that must be resolved before this can be properly implemented.
The main problem is that the Beatmap search bar returns results of every mode to the user, unless the mode filter is applied. This is problematic, because the key-based filter would only be appropriate if the osu!mania mode filter was on. This would make the advanced search more complex than necessary. My suggestion is that we separate the modes, and give the user indications in the Beatmap result as to if the given Beatmap has alternative modes.
I've also heard word of 10K maps and beyond. I'm not sure, but from that fact there may be a way to set the number of keys in a map to any amount of keys the developer pleases. If that's the case, then the filter will need to be a text-field rather than a selection.
There are possibly other problems, but I think that's most of them. This may be a fairly difficult task, but many osu!mania users, including myself would be very pleased to see this employed.
