So, I had recently thought of a pretty small idea at minimum or a very, very complex one at maximum, and I think it would be a nice touch to osu!
This idea would be quick little beatmap intros that have a small space of time (3-7 seconds or somewhere around that timeframe) that show the title, author, number of times that beatmap has been passed/failed, etc. This is the basic idea anyway, but the possibilities in my mind could be near-endless since I was thinking of actual animations in that timeframe that could be edited, along with things like text within the animation, shapes, it goes on.
As for a legitimate reason as to why this should be added, there really isn't one other than the fact that it would make for a nice aesthetic. I would like the idea of launching a song like Okaerensai or Neuronecia and having the animation of, say, this (Neuronecia is a complex example, Okaerensai is a simple one):
Neuronecia
*A Box falling from the top border of the screen to the bottom then bouncing back up to the middle of the screen and stopping*
*Information aforementioned appears as a fade-in on the box in *insert color and style* text*
*The box then bounces closer to the screen and grows bigger in a sort of VR feel and then quickly and violently falls back down onto an imaginary surface which causes the cutscene to involuntarily crack in every way imaginable from the box*
*The jagged pieces of this cutscene fall off-screen and reveal the storyboard of said map and the actual gameplay starts*
Okaerensai
*A Box begins to grow from nothingness to normal size*
*Flowers blossom from the box's borders, which can be any color*
*This happens for a couple of seconds before the screen does a paper rip effect from the right to the left covering the whole screen and in the process uncovering the storyboard and beginning gameplay*
As a side note, I would suggest to make such an idea like this part of the storyboard itself, but the problem there is that some maps begin immediately and that there's not enough time to insert such an animation at the beginning of said storyboard.
I also apologize for sounding like such an amateur through this entire post, it's just that I had/have a lot of things to say in the regard of this idea.
Any takers?
P.S. Yes, this post was caused by Beatmania inspiration, but dangit I'll be sad if they stop making Beatmania games, they're so freaking good.
Also, if I screwed up on something while suggesting this idea, please tell me.
