One thing I will mention is that osu! supports multiple beatmaps by multiple authors for the same song - especially well when using the same mp3. I personally think its nice to have variation on the same songs, and would like to hear different people's takes on them.

The creator name is already stored in the metadata - there is no need to tag it elsewhere.

I guess if you want to make another beatmap for song already done or being done, you should probably contact the original creator(s). That being said, it'd be hard to stop people from doing what they want.

I'm doing Tentai Kansoku, by Bump of Chicken. I doubt anyone else would be doing that anyway, but I wish iNiS had used it for the final song instead of Sekai wa Sore wo Ai to Yobundaze... That song didn't have as much power to it as the other final songs, IMO. This is my first beatmap, so I can't guarantee it's going to go anywhere yet... I'll probably need some help.
My musix are obsolete and nobody likes them, so I have no worry of them taking the songs, but I'll reserve them anyway.

Anyway, what should I use as the artist of this song? Right now, I'm using 'Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuukai'. Is that okay? Also, the video I'm using right now is kinda huge (44MB). The video quality is top-notch, but I doubt anyone will be willing to download the file this big. Any suggestion on how to reduce the file size?
vdub it xvid 1200kbit or so. should still look ok. also remove the audio stream. you can either leave the artist as you have it, or track down the name of the actual singer.
