fun and frustration

well guys, I didn't want to be one of those whiners but it seems like I'm to close to the edge... I really love this game. It's awsome. The community is good; the game is fun and diverse; and it's challenging.
But I've hit a brick wall and no matter how hard I bash against it, it won't budge.
I find the normal maps to easy and a little boring but I just can't finish a hard map properly. Either I cannot read the map, but I manage the speed or I can read the map but I fail to match the speed required. No matter what tips I try it won't work. I've quit because of this but now I came back because I missed the game and the fun I had with it. obviously after a break I got worse, but I still find the normal maps too easy. My wall remains...

I really hope you could motivate me, give me good advise or share your wall (passed or not).

Search for a slower maps with a lower CS or AR :)

there's a huge difference in 'hard' songs, look at the stars you can pass
try alot of different maps, find some maps you can't fc yet but where you have a feeling if you try enough you'll get it

ask some maps from this bot ingame

This

Practice makes perfect. It's frustrating, you want to be good here and now... But believe me, it comes to you after some time.

This will probably only discourage you but 1.2k plays is nothing

Learning takes time. It's usually a bad idea to play if you are already frustrated.

Take a break and go on the internet or watch anime.

this should give you a "tiny little hint" of what's wrong :/
(no need to be as "excessive" as I am, I just press that Retry button way too often)
Also, you shouldn't care too much about the difficulty name and sort your beatmaps by difficulty. As you can see, you might find supposedly [Hard] diffs that might be "easier" than [Normal] ones, or even [Easy] ones (at least according to star rating). I'm not saying it's perfect, but it is probably better for slowly finding harder maps without having a ridiculous skill gap between supposedly [Normal] < [Hard] diffs.

Last but not least, download lots of songs, so that you'll get used to playing different BPMs / patterns / etc quickly.

This is what I'd say too.

Also don't take everything I write to heart since I can't remember that well what being a newbie in rhythm games is like exactly.

First of all, judging by your profile you hardly qualify as a decent player right now. Getting S from normals should be a given, getting S from hards should be pretty easy as well after a while of playing seriously. This may sound mean but if you say "the game is challenging" at this point, I doubt you will make it to insane diffs. If you can't S all normals you play with 95%+ accuracy then you need to train more and more until you should even try harder diffs.

If that feels stupid, just concentrate on playing maps and songs that you like. I usually play maps made for my favorite songs much better than others. Besides, playing for fun is more fun than playing to get better (surprise surprise, also proof:)

The only walls I've had are the one I had like 8 or 9 years ago when I was starting to play stepmania, and I couldn't play at all, but then I met this one guy who was good (to be honest, not that good at the time, but it was about 7-8 years ago so yeah) and that motivated me enough that the wall just broke on its own, and then the wall I have right now with beatmania IIDX and not being able to clear even a single level 12 song (goddamn) nor most of the level 11s either. I'm starting to clear more level 11s though, don't even know why since I only play once a week or two.

"I've hit a wall" at 200pp, is this a joke?

Usually, people who play harder songs become better. Just play songs you can't FC, but you know you can pass. :P
