I never really got it that why some people use lower resolution as their monitor is.
It doesn't seem to affect at all that if I play with 1600x900 or 2560x1440.
Is there really any advantage playing with lower resolution?

you can see the whole playfield better.

You can access taskbar when you want, without having to press the Windows button.

Minor advantage, but the only reason why I'm never full-screen.

Well I get it that it makes the window smaller, but I mostly meant people who use lower res + fullscreen

Lots of pro pc gamers use low 4:3 resolutions.
I am not sure why though

it was the default setting when i installed osu!, they are probably just too lazy to change it

More fps with a poor gpu.
Axel
Most of the top osu! players use window mode.
No idea why though. I've wondered that as well.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't like windowed mode that much even though I have 27" monitor, so I'll just stick to 1440p

4:3 is ALMOST ALWAYS used in the competitive scene, not just osu, but many more competitive games. This is because the mouse travel will be more easier to respond at in-game events. The screen tends to be smaller but it affects and boosts the reaction time

tl;dr
Lower Resolutions = Higher Reaction Rate

On FPS games it's a disadvantage tho...
Since you get lower FOV with 4:3 aspect ratio

Well, yes you can make that one an exception

But ALL MOBA's use that resolution. If you take a look at the ASUS ROG DOTA 2 Finals, you'll see the 4:3 resolution usage due to easier response
