Will I need to turn up sensitivity?

I've been playing osu for around 2 months now, and I'm at the level where I can do most songs on hard/ish difficulties, but I have a feeling that my mouse sensitivity isn't going to be enough for me to start doing harder songs.

My computer's setting is a little above middle, osu setting is at 1.1. Previously had it at 1.0 since I learned to play that way, though today I messed with it a little and set it up to 1.3 which caused me to overshoot most of the time.

Another possibly related issue, I'm bad at spinners. I can only manage around 230-260 spins per minute. Is this something that would go up with increased mouse sensitivity?

Should also mention that notes being spaced far apart is what usually gets me in the harder songs
Do I need to get used to higher sensitivity or just practice more? Any help would be nice

Try reaching your distance out more...If you're using a higher sensitivity then you'll be moving far less than someone else. There's a lot of skilled players that don't use a high sensitivity, so it's really up to you and your maximum comfort level. Keep taking the time to adjust your sensitivity to your liking. :)

I play at double the regular amount (Though it's 1.0x on my osu!; I used the Mouse Control Panel to set my cursor's speed) and I tend to make large spins. Word on the street seems to be that if you have lower sensitivities you should go for smaller spins, while the opposite for higher ones. Once more, up to you, keep experimenting. :3 Play style is unique, and that's one interesting aspect of osu!

If you want to try increasing your sensitivity, do it in very small increments. Once you've gotten used to a faster setting, you can try a tiny bit higher and keep repeating the cycle until you're happy and comfortable. :)

how exactly did you measure spins per minute? lol

it all depends on the player really--some people like low sensitivity and some people like high.

one tip for the spins is to try to make as small of a circle as you can, making sure to stay in the center. the diameter of my circle spin is less than an inch.

an alternative to increase mouse sensitivity is to play at a lower screen resolution. depending on your mouse, i wouldn't recommend putting the sensitivity too high, as it gets "choppier". for best results, you'll want a mouse with a high dpi. as well, mouse surface can affect things.

Actually, you didn't have to use a very high sensitivity :) Use a sensitivity as comfort as possible, and...

No. My sensitivity is 1.2 and sometimes, if I am lucky, I could spin to 360 spins per minute. Try to move your arm (not your hands) while spinning, that helps.

I would not recommend this. It doesn't make sense.

If you're used to a low sensi, then you'll be fine playing with it. If you're used to a high sensi then you'll be fine playing with it. There is no "magical" number that you should be striving for, and which it seems Derekku Chan is suggesting. (Why would he want to increase his sensi every time he gets comfortable with a setting?) You will have better mouse control with a lower sensitivity, but every person has his own personal preference. If you've played many months with your current sensi, and you were comfortable with it (If you aren't by now you'll never be), then there's no need to change. You don't need a high sensitivity in order to spin fast or make jumps.

You can get used to (and be proficient with) any sensitivity if you play with it long enough. I'd suggest trying to get your in game sensitivity as close as possible to your windows sensitivity though. (I.e. cursor speed when you're browsing etc) That way you only have to use 1 sensi ever and wont' "confuse" your brain. If you feel you need to increase your sensi, DO NOT do it in small increments and play with it until you've gotten used to it. Try to find the setting you want and then practice with it straight away. Getting used to the increments is a waste of time.

It shouldn't take long to get used to a new sensitivity. If one is used to a low one but they think that it's still too hard for them to do streams/jumps/etc., then it would only make sense to try a higher sensitivity. There's no harm in trying different ones. :?
