Introduction.
Pretty useless information, but for some reason the questions "How many touhou songs are there ?" and "Why are there so many anime songs ?" pop up quite a bit.

Betting I'm not the first to produce something with the figures and since osu! grows at a fairly constant rate, this information will be invalid in a few weeks or months. But I am pretty certain the ratio will look the same over time. Without another snapshot however, I cannot be certain of this, so I'll leave that as qualified speculation.

Method.
I've tried to keep this as clean as possible by using the genres. But I've added the count of maps matching 'Touhou' because that creeps up every now and again.

All data can be found by simply using the beatmap listings page.

If any of these numbers are wrong off the bat, I apologize in advance. For those interested or lazy, I can attach the worksheet.

Addendum: Motive and Scope.
This is nothing more than a snapshot of the current database of beatmaps on osu! divided into genres. The purpose of producing this was to illuminate the variations seen in the current layout. I am not directing criticism against how X genre is larger or smaller than Y, a question I find irrelevant. It should be noted that, as Luigihann has explained, Techno incorporates all electronic music styles. I would like to encourage the reader to not jump to conclusions and maintain an objective and open mind, these are raw statistics to provide a broad answer to a question I have seen a number of times; but never had the energy to produce statistics for.

In short, this was produced because it seemed like no one else had the initiative to do the research. Pure information, useless as it may be. No ulterior motive from my part.

Snapshot valid 2010-03-07.

Counting unranked maps seems kind of silly because they won't have a listed genre.

Most "Touhou" maps are marked as video game. Are you counting those twice, or did you remove the overlap already?

Valid point, however as you can see the drift is negligible and beyond my present scope.

I'll motivate counting the unranked maps because while ranked maps are the aim of the scope. Unranked/Approved may offer a different perspective.

Can you make a piechart out of the maps ranked in 2009 and 2010?
Lovely stuff btw
And while your at it, a chart sorted by language would be nice?

Then why Touhou didn't go to Video Games?

Addendum 2.
As requested, ranked by 2009 and current 2010.

As for the Vocaloid matter. Touhou was included as an example of something popular and how much that one 'part' is on the 'whole'

Vocaloid is at 1.81%
Miku is at 2.38%

If only I could do this for genre and language, and compare that with user nationalities over time. =[

Thanks TPIY

So, it comes down to something like this:
Mara
253,533 registered users, 890 online now.
A total of 80,486,290 ranked plays!
Is there possible to check what kinds of beatmaps people play by genre?

Lovely statistics.

2009 / 2010 has a particular interest to me, I'm seeing a direct correlation in the drop in ranked rock maps and the drop in ranked awp maps
