I fail to see how you *need* a fancy luxus phone...
Get real and buy a normal smart phone.

this phone is really cheap for the specs that it has, if you look at phones that have the same specs, they will cost 500-600 euro's, while the OnePlus One only costs 300 euros

Love,

Shuu.

Why do I have a feeling that you only want that smartphone because it's "exclusive"?

i want it because its so cheap for the specs that it has, i only discovered that it was exclusive when i wanted to buy it. :(

Shuu.

I think the phone is supposed to be out by the end of the year as far as I know.

The specs are amazing for the price 5.5inch display, quadcore 2.5 ghz cpu, amazing camera, amazing battery life, 3gb of ram for only $300.

Anyways, theres a good chance that the invite only is because this is a beta, nobody is supposed to have it except testers which are invited by employees.
I still dont see why you *need* a flag ship tier phone, even if its a cheap flagship the OnePlus One claims to be...

Nope, it's invite only because they're a start-up company and it allows them to test the waters without losing out on demand (perhaps even increasing it)... the phone that you purchase with an invite is the final product.
You get an invite by receiving one from someone who owns the phone (or from other sources such as giveaways or contests), and the business model seems to have worked... they've announced that they've already sold over 500 thousand units. Not bad for their first phone.

You only need an invite to buy it directly off their site. It is available from a lot of retailers without the need of an invite, but unfortunately for a larger price. Even with the price advertised on their site, there are phones with better or similar specs for cheaper than the oneplus now, such as xperia z / z ultra / z1, galaxy s4, xiaomi mi-3, huawei honor 6, huawei ascend p7, and plenty of lg and motorola phones. Those are all well known brands as well, and are likely to have a lot more support for their devices than a small company.
Trash Boat
yeah, why waiting for it when you can get a similar right now?

Salutes,

Are you sure you're not thinking of the mi4? Because mi3 is available even here in Australia, I'm positive you could get it in America. If not, you could always buy it online from an international seller, it's still cheap anyway.

Xiaomi does not have a presence in North America at all, and the only way to get their phones is by importing (which is still not the best idea considering that the phones have incompatibilities with our networks).
You can ask around here, and the only people who would even know the name Xiaomi are those who keep up with business figures. The fact that they're currently #3 in global sales (only behind Samsung and Apple) is very impressive considering that we're completely oblivious to them over here.

I have a oneplus one invite, and I won't give it to you. Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo.

P.S. It's an extra one too since I already bought it.

Oh yeah, didn't think about network incompatibilities. Luckily, the networks in Australia are the same signal as the ones used most places around the world, including Korea, Japan and China, so Asian exclusive phones still work perfectly here if they are unlocked. Obviously, if you're with Verizon or another no sim card carrier, then it won't work, but I think they are still compatible with most non-lte or 4g carriers in America.

I'm in Canada, and all of our carriers have been using SIM cards since the iPhone 3GS... we don't have the same compatibility issues that Verizon has.
I was actually in the market for a new phone recently, and was thinking of picking up a Redmi 1S or a Redmi Note, but neither of them were compatible with the 3G signals here. So I'd either have to settle on 2G, move up to a Mi3, or look at other options.
I ended up picking up a Nexus 4 for cheap (and have been perfectly content with it so far), but I'd take a look at their phones again once they inevitably land overseas.

2G is pretty terrible, unless you don't use data and only use your phone signal for calls / texts, then it's not very viable. What signals or bands does your carrier run on? Shouldn't have any issues with international phones I think.

The 3 major carriers in Canada use 850/1900 for 3G, while the Redmi Note only works on 900/2100. The WCDMA version of the Mi3 uses 850/900/1900/2100, so I'd be in the clear if I bumped up my budget a bit. (but as I said, I'll be content with my Nexus 4 until the Xiaomi phones are officially supported over here)
LTE over here uses FDD-LTE 700/1700/2600 (depends on carrier), but as far as I'm aware, some of those bands cause issues with a lot of foreign phones, so it's not just Xiaomi's fault.
