It's really annoying for me when I'm playing and then a little thing pops up on the lower right side of osu!. I can't say how often it broke my combo because I was always looking at it. I thougt that you could make it like a toogle or that it has a dis-/enable function so that it's not shown during play-mode, but afterwards shows you how went online.

On the Options menu, have you unchecked "Show notification popups instantly during gameplay"?
