ok first off you might ask why??
as there seem to be a lot of maps which have a lot of diffs from many different mappers, keeping metadata on mapsets such as this:

(or probably some others) the amount of files you have to check whether the metadata is consistent or not is getting time consuming. just imagine someone sugfests a useful tag to add to such a set: the creator has to edit a whole 45 files in order to achieve consistency while literally writing the same every damn time!
My idea now is to exclude stuff like metadata from the actual .osu beatmap files to a separate file:
pros: one global file per mapset where you can easily adjust the metadata for all difficulties in a set which makes adding / deleting tags much less time consuming
cons: idk where the current policy regarding that is heading so that could either be a step back or forward in terms of manageability of a set
discuss the idea...?
