ok first off you might ask why??
as there seem to be a lot of maps which have a lot of diffs from many different mappers, keeping metadata on mapsets such as this:
https://osu.ppy.sh/s/123760
(or probably some others) the amount of files you have to check whether the metadata is consistent or not is getting time consuming. just imagine someone sugfests a useful tag to add to such a set: the creator has to edit a whole 45 files in order to achieve consistency while literally writing the same every damn time!

My idea now is to exclude stuff like metadata from the actual .osu beatmap files to a separate file:
pros: one global file per mapset where you can easily adjust the metadata for all difficulties in a set which makes adding / deleting tags much less time consuming

cons: idk where the current policy regarding that is heading so that could either be a step back or forward in terms of manageability of a set

discuss the idea...?

oh, thanks for bringing this topic or discussion >.<

how bout always have osu to read the *.osu then *.osb file

new system is... metadata got overwrite or read from osb....

while for the rest of ranked beatmap, it reads the *.osu's metadata first... mostly they dont have *.osb
so system can jst ignore this...

for new one, if system cant find the metadata from *.osu , since it got removed,
system will find this metadata on *.osb

simple as that

but umm... i dont really mind it...
perhaps i might mess with notepad++ to change all metadata at once...
it works , that u can open all file on notepad++ and "find and replace" stuff
jst have to make sure the keyword fits perfectly so it doesnt bother other's value

That's basically the same request you know? errrr well... fundamentally the same? o.o
LordRaika
in short, we need feature to apply things for all at once....
anything will do , BUT the developer or support team should at least knw how to make it happens...

like what ive suggest by storing the value or data to single osb.... , that way its clearly need for the user in the future to only stored the value once for all... F4 will bring the *.osb set up metadata... not single *.osu anymore

... I guess the thread here is redundant then because someone had the same idea 5 years ago but it died in abyss

It has the same goal
It only works in a different matter (also for timing and hitsounds)
