what the fudge....
thorough the whole season i thought it was really good, since there's no manga nor Ln, it made you guess for what would happen next and sometimes even pissed off people lol but towards the end it just kind of went meh and then yea ..
What do you guys think of the ending?

The Manga is still going and it was just one season more to come.

It's not based on the manga, though. It's an anime original and the manga just retells the events of the anime, NOT vice versa.
Overall though, it's not that the ending in particular sucked. The anime already did that way earlier with some developments that were just plain stupid (especially seeing how quickly Rayet got forgiveness, but also that 'Forgive me, Slaine.' moment from Crutheo. ESPECIALLY that one.), characters I hardly cared about with the exceptions of Slaine and Saazbaum, and overall a rather repetetive formula. I actually appreciate the way S1 ended because it presents an opportunity for actually -interesting- characters to take the spotlight. Inaho was just... ugh.

It looks like they got shot fatally, but we still got one more season and they are the two most important characters in the story. Inaho is the protagonist and the Princess can't die until this has happened:

This entire show is kind of a major disappointment. If it were actually about Slaine and Rayet instead of boring ol' Inaho it would've been great.

The first few episodes set up an interesting dynamic of inflicting imperialism upon a first-world nation (or planet, in this case). The character dynamics between Slaine (an Terran native who ends up becoming a soldier of Mars and devoted to the Princess) and Rayet (daughter of a Martian spy who ends up taking up residence on Earth) were not only really set up during those episodes but were VERY solid foundation to develop a series on. Unfortunately, once Urobuchi stopped doing the scriptwriting after episode 3, everything ended up becoming an incompetent pile of mech/war genre tropes not meshed well together.

I'm kinda nervous about season 2 of this if every episode beyond episode 3 was a major dropoff in quality.

I sort of have to agree with Mogs here. After the end of that first arc, it was pretty much Inaho mowing everyone down. There weren't many plot twist that weren't predictable. Adding on that no one died during the shower scene, the show just seemed to be set on some sort of linear path. Then comes episode 12, which made very little sense in comparison to the last 8 or 9 eps. The normally calm inaho decides to spare his opponent, drop his gun, and instead fight him in some bizarre fist fight. Then we have Slaine who seems to care about the princesss decides not to kill her murderer. Yeah, the last ep just felt disjoint for me.

My only real issue was that they wrapped things up quickly with a short bit of narration. Slaine is obviously going to be the focus of the next cour which will probably have something to do with the origins of aldanoah. Since his father basically discovered aldanoah (iirc) its not THAT weird that he was somehow able to activate an aldanoah drive. Another possibility is for Slaine to help lead another war against Vers with the support of both the terrans and the traitors. He obviously accepted the duke's reasons for doing what he did even if he didn't agree with the actual actions taken. There was some respect between those two.

My reaction to the last episode
FIRST TOKYO GHOUL CLIFFHANGER NOW THIS? (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻

such cliffhanger ending. much wow.
but lets see what they have up their sleeve for the next season

I wouldn't even say it was a cliffhanger. They kind of resolved everything in the narration in the lamest way possible.

A certain wise man said " will eggs return as punished eggs or will he remain scrambled along with NTR princess ? "

But on a note, I have doubts that it was by Gen's hands that episode 12 happened the way it did, citing what Mogsworth wrote (I've read the interview as well)

Yeah, Urobuchi went onto Twitter and stated that he wasn't responsible for the ending of this show, or for most of Aldnoah.Zero in general. He's a pretty outspoken writer (and I wish more were in the super-PR-controlled environment of Japanese anime press), and he did always seem really upset with the way Katsuhiko Takayama handled it.

He's also hinted that he's not responsible for any of the major deaths that will occur in Psycho-Pass 2. Makes sense, since he's not writing that one.

Funny how that was the guy who wrote the script for Boku no Pico.

Wish I was joking.

Yyyup. The guy who wrote the script for everything from episode 4 onward for Aldnoah also wrote Boku no Pico, Mirai Nikki, ef (both seasons), Baka to Test season 1, the script to FMA season 1...

...yeah, he gets around.

Real shame about this series, and the fact that it has to continue from this wreckage.

Waiting on Assassination Classroom and DRRR! S2 to weigh things out. And a couple of heavy post-season marathons. (Tatami Galaxy, Tokyo Magnitude)
