The best advice I can tell you is: get a tablet!

Yes I've been in a huge dilema lately. I'm just waiting for my mouse to fall (drift) off my table one day and then I'll throw it out of the window and finally get my hands on tablet ;_;

Nuuuuuuu, mouse will be sad if you do that :''< You can buy a tablet, but keep the mouse for backup.... If you lost your pen.

I yet haven't seen a song that has a break 20 seconds in... But whatever.

If that much drift is happening in only 20 seconds, you probably have enhanced pointer precision on....

If it is a crappy or broken mouse, then that may would cause the issue. But judging by the fibre (looking) cable in the pics posted by the OP, I'd venture to say that the mouse is atleast middle tier. Thus it probably has a decent sensor which should be able to track within millimeters or less on its native setting.

But for the record, I use a low dpi on a 2 dollar mouse pad from Office Depot, and I have no problems with significant drift. (all mice drift, but it definitely is not as much as the OP describes)

or stay calm and use a little bit higher sens so you can move less

you'll just have to get used to it for a bit

Never got that problem because with 1 cm I could do a fullscreen 1336x768...

My first post is sarcastic, however mouse drifts happen and i can feel my arm always getting into awkward positions when i play a song that has lots of jumps (mostly left - right)
I am using bloody v7 (3200dpi) but I'm playing at 600. My windows settings are 6/11 with acceleration off, and osu! settings 1.0 with raw input.
Maybe its because I'm holding my mouse with my whole hand?

Used to have this problem all the time on longer songs then i switched to tablet and it got fixed.
Varetyr
Used to have this problem all the time on longer songs then I realised I could pretty much readjust my mouse while playing. And it got fixed.
Darkdog
I don't have this problem, maybe it's because my mousepad is pretty big... or maybe I play on a higher sensitivity o.o

I have just set my DPI to 800 (from 600) and i pretty much already got used to it. There is less mouse drifting... I might just stick with mouse then and forget about the tablet thing >.>

I only got a tablet in 2013, but I started using it in late winter of this year. It is a good choice to keep going what you like and improve from there. I know I did until I got my tablet functional. Then I increased my accuracy and kept on playing tough songs

I like my mouse but sometimes it drives me mad. I am afraid that I, lets say buy a tablet and then not use it at all... Anyways thanks for the recommendation c:

I get this when I play for like 4-5 minutes straight. Kind of annoying.

At what DPI are you playing? And what mouse are you using?
Amianki
I use a Logitech G400 at 3600dpi.

You could try increasing your dpi gradually. Higher sensitivity is probably the only way to reduce drift :?

I pretty much have the exact opposite question. I don't really understand how people can stand low dpi. :/

I was experimenting a bit. Moving constantly from 800-1600 DPI to find my golden spot and it looks like its 1200. Not to fast, not to slow, no mouse drifting. However i will get a tablet anyways, but i wont stop using mouse i guess (I want tablet because the game is more fun that way)

i dont get mouse drift i just get the nasty sweaty palm so my mouse slides under my hand making me miss notes =p then i got a tablet and still have the same problem now i just have to deathgrip and wreck my hand just to hold on...

My hand sweats only when outside temperatures are crazy (like over 35*C), but when it's winter i have no problems with palm sweating so i guess swapping to tablet would fix most of my problems (except aim because i rly suck at it).
