The left-aligned dynamic ranking in multiplayer can be hidden by pressing tab, but the one in the bottom-right corner always displays when the versus mode is head to head.
The point of disabling the left-side ranking is to minimize the disturbance caused by fluctuating ranks during multiplayer, but the corner display can still more or less affect the player's performance. So in my opinion it should be hidden together with the detailed rank status.
