Closing a browser window: Serious Business

So we were in a group project, sharing a computer. We were supposed to go to a site and click on a link to look at some rules for a contest.

The computer dude kept on looking at Myspace (...), yahoo mail, and other not-allowed nonsense that also happens to be annoying to look at when you just want to see the rules on a second window. Did the infamous "minimize second window" trick.

He couldn't find the link to the rules. So, I took control and clicked the rules...

...And exited his second window while I was at it.

I thus got a string of threats and he talked to people telling them I'm a conceited asshole. He also told me he was going to beat me up and break my glasses. I told him how the last person who did something similar to that got arrested for assault (I had nothing to do with that; the district did the arresting on their own). He told me to shut up.

The worst part?

He was serious, and refused to work with me just because I did him a favor and got rid of a distraction. That string of threats and stuff lasted for about 5 minutes BTW. I laughed silently most of the time because of how silly it was.

tl;dr: Broswer windows are serious business. This is also a metaphor for some of the people in the community.

You're too righteous Ekaru. It's going to get you killed.

Chillax, it's just high school.

If some guy is raged because you closed sites such as MySpace and Yahoo Mail, I don't understand. It's easy to bring those up again.

If you're closing tabs which are basically bookmarks in disguise (which I have currently about 20 of) I can understand his rage.

If you know me, closing Opera is a ritual.

Well, not really. Opera re-opens all my tabs for me. <3

Nah, it's a silly story where I was laughing silently the whole time to myself, so this is the right section.

Don't worry strager, it wasn't bookmarks in disguise. It was one tab. He switched sites manually. I assure you that it was equally annoying to sit there, waiting for him to get to the site, and see him surfing myspace and yahoo mail and stuff.

Why does this warrant a thread?
This is normal in the USA. Except with me, kids don't usually mess with anymore. And I usually do more than close their window. Also my school focuses on group-based projects so I have to make sure we're all on good terms.
