There's more "otakus" on osu! than there are compared to many other video game communities, probably partially due to the fact that osu! is so international, and not to mention it's based off of a Japanese game. But of course, not absolutely everyone on osu! is an otaku.
It's simply more common here than in other games.

Most, but not all.
There isn't a significant amount more otakus in this community than most others, we're just a lot more vocal and open about it.
I think otaku term should be used for people who are way much obsessed with anime in every aspect of it, not usual people who only likes to watch some anime. For example I would call a "2d girls are better than 3d girls" kind of guys an otaku. I watched nearly 3500 anime episodes and I wouldn't ever call myself an otaku.

Isn't the word "otaku" considered an insult in japan cause it has to relate with it meaning "house" or something and otaku being someone who doesn't go outside of the house?

Well the reason why i started playing osu was bcus i am a otaku.
I just loved playing beatmaps with openings from the shows i watched

it might or might not be depending on what people /think/ it means , but just in case im not using the term "otaku" unless necessary
Otaku is an insult so it's a negative term and you should feel bad if you are one. Calling yourself an anime fan doesn't hurt though.
I play osu because I want to play anime OP and ED or something related anime. I guess most of them not otaku, but anime fan (maybe)
