It's not always easy figuring out if we're missing a note because we're too early, or because we're too late, especially in the middle of playing. I thought, why not have a functionality that enables us to watch a replay, and have a perfect playthrough like the one generated by the Auto mod simultaneously? There would be 2 cursors on the screen, and we could see both playthroughs side-by-side to compare and improve.

This video I saw a while back actually demonstrates my point pretty well, except with Cookiezi's and WubWoofWolf's playthroughs.

So this is the kind of thing I had in mind, except with one cursor doing a perfect playthrough.

Not trying to brag, but what I propose is ergonomically superior to the error meter, and I believe could very well become one of the redeeming features of osu!.

It's very hard to read with 2 cursors on screen and frankly I don't see how this is superior to the hit error meter.

For starters, a miss doesn't appear on the error meter. Not only that, but having an eye on your cursor and one on the error meter isn't always easy. Seeing "oh, the white cursor hit the note earlier than the red one" is easier than seeing "OK, so I got 100 there, so on the error meter, the green bar is on the left, so I hit it too early".
Also, it's not that hard to follow 2 cursors, it just take a little bit of getting used to ; and in a stream, situation in which this feature would be the most helpful, seeing the distance between the 2 cursors would not be a problem at all.
I really believe this would be an ergonomical improvement, and one of those features that give the game an even more professional feel, on the same level as the osu! logo that pulses as a function of the BPM in the beatmap selection screen.

You keep using that word but do you know what it means? I checked dictionary because you know, its your native language not mine, and it seems that i am right that you are using it wrong. Also your writing style of those random bolded words is really weird.

Oh right you were suggesting something. I actually think that this could be pretty neat, not because of the possibility to see timing difference on clicks as I dont think that I would be even able to tell the difference, but because of this

Although I think comparing it to a pro player could be more useful because auto does not really play natural at all.

There's a mistake in my flag, I'm French, English is not my native language. What I mean is the French word "ergonomique" which basically means "adapted, comfortable and easy to use for its intended purpose". Actually, I think ergonomical might not be an actual word.
As for the bolded words, if you read my signature, you'd understand.

I'm glad you find my idea appealing, but just like most of the good and interesting threads, it's probably going to get bashed, locked, invalidated, and forgotten.

You are right about Auto though, it didn't come to my mind, but it is quite unnatural, and may not even be of any help because of that issue.
