Hey I have one simple question. You get pp if you are getting a higher rank than other people on a beatmap and the higher your rank the more pp you will gain.

Now my question... do you get more pp if you are playing insane instead of easy or does this not matter ?

You get more pp playing insane because it is harder than easy.

Also, you don't get pp for beating other people's ranks, but rather, getting good ranks on songs.

You don't get PP for beating other people. You get PP for getting a good score (usually full-combo), and the amount you get depends on your accuracy as well as the difficulty of the beatmap (the amount you get is reduced if it's easier than your top performance).

Play more insane rather than easy
Also to get pp, FC and a high acc is also important

My top performance is a 130pp song.
I played a song worth 108pp, weighted 70%, it says (76pp)

Correct me if i am wrong, but i am supposed to get 76pp right? Because i only got around 10ish pp, and i am sure of it.

It gave 76pp but plays that were below 70% weighting had their value reduced since they have less weighting now when they are lower in your top rankings.

I see, so it was like a give and take?

For example, i just FCed "Infinite Stratos - Beautiful SKy [Insane]" it gave 108pp at 70%, meaning, 76pp *coincidentally*
And the fact that my pp only increased by 12 (from 2074 -> 2086) is because there was a deduction of 54pp from my 'less difficult maps' since they are now worth less?

Exactly, the lesser difficulty beatmap you've played will be weighted lower. -> Result, the small decrease of pp.

For an easier example
First you have:

- "Beatmap #1" - 105pp weighted 100% = 105
- "Beatmap #2" - 102pp weighted 95% = 96.9
- "Beatmap #3" - 100pp weighted 90% = 90
Total = 291.9pp

and then you just get a new score from 'Beatmap #4" with 106pp <- top rank = 100% pp

So the new one:

- "Beatmap" #4 - 106pp weighted 100% = 106
- "Beatmap" #1 - 105pp weighted 95% = 99.75
- "Beatmap" #2 - 102pp weighted 90% = 91.8
- "Beatmap" #3 - 100pp weighted 86% = 86
Total = 383.55pp
Increased from the previous score = 383.55 - 291.9 = 91.65pp

You'll see that even if you got the new top rank, you still didn't get exactly 106pp but you only got 91.65pp because the rest of it (14.35pp) is compensate the other decreased rank.

Well, I hope I make it clear. :)
