Hello everyone. How are you doing today?

As you all know, many osu players have ask.fm accounts and they give advice on improvement, osu mechanics etc. The problem is that the information is scattered all over the place and it's simply not comfortable to browse through thousands of answers to find what you want.

So what I decided to do was make a compilation of great and informative answers from various high-ranked players that will, hopefully, make you understand things a little bit more and help you become a better player.

So let's start:

I hope this will be helpful to new players. I will try to update this as often as I can. If you guys know about other informative answers on ask.fm, please post them and if they are good enough, I will put them here. Also, if you think some answers aren't helpful and don't deserve to be here, or if they are in the wrong category, feel free to say so.

I knew this would come up. He may not be a high-ranked player, but he still gives great advice... Anyway, couldn't think of a better name for this thread, so please don't get caught up on technicalities. ;)

I can't tell if this is serious advice or a troll answer (probably troll) because you must have autism if you can sit down for 2 hours and do that shit. then again I've seen worse advice that people genuinely believe is good practice
silmarilen
have you tried it or are you just saying things because you think it sounds stupid?

well it worked for me, i only did it 5 times each (because yeah, 2 hours too much) and nailed every curved/spaced stream for the next few days. my stream aim is garbage.

imo if your rank # is lower than your total PP you're a "high rank player"

this number is adaptive and subject to change all the time so it works
Aqo
mfw I'm in the op
mfw entire thread is about that fact
tfw I knew this would come up

for people who don't like my advice: you don't have to take it
it's all based on collected experience from both myself and many others. very few of it is opinions, most of it is "I know of several people who did this (or something similar) and it worked for them, so I'm offering you to try it as well" do what you want with it.
winber1
can teach play well? pls cookie!! very bad no play B-) B-)
Neliel
I dont have an ask.fm account and I am not famous.

But my advice is :

SPOILER
Play more and stop searching the board and other websites for tips or anything if you could use the time to actually improve. Always play what you cant play.

Sorry for my bad english. :P

I have this urge to just clone this thread worded differently for no reason at all

Just because someone is a high rank, doesn't mean they can give good advice.

Nor does it mean they actually know about the game either, Kynan doesn't know the difference between speed and aim for example...

Rank really doesn't mean anything when it comes to game knowledge, it just means you can play well. I wouldn't take advice from a high-ranked player as being more legitimate or serious than advice from a lower-ranked player.

Both high-ranked and low-ranked players can easily give shitty advice but I'd be more inclined to listen to someone who is ranked in the top 10 and can play most, if not all the maps in the game instead of some random 50k scrub with 1500 playcount just because I know for a fact that the high-ranker has invested way more time in the game. To me it doesn't matter if the low-ranked player spends all his time theorizing about the optimal setup, training regime, etc. if they don't apply their findings themselves and experience it firsthand. This isn't really a game where having a coach will make you a pro, the only thing that will is by playing the game itself.

Personally though I don't really listen to advice anymore because I've played the game enough to know myself what I need to do to improve, however spending the time to do so is a different story.

Also for every one high-ranker who doesn't know shit about what he's talking about, there are hundreds, if not thousands of low-rankers who are in the same boat.
