This is a little something that came to mind randomly. It's similar to the "Cursor ripple" option, however instead of mouse clicks it utilizes the z/x keys (or whatever is bound to hits) as well, and instead of a ripple it shows a dot exactly at the point where you clicked. In my concept example, I used a red dot (edited in with Vegas).

This could be helpful in some cases where you miss a note, but don't know how or how far off you were from it. The size and color of the dot should be something noticeable yet not too distracting, so it would help the player improve not throw them of track.

Here is a 30 second clip of Airman with the hitmark concept:

Interesting idea for those forensic sessions...

"Hitpoint" is a bit misleading (thought of HP). How about calling it something like "hit mark" instead?

I'd add to it the line which follows your movement (as if the smoke was pressed all the time)

So it would be like --------o-------ooo--------o-------- o meaning hits

It would come handy when you check your replay to see why you're missing this particular pattern or why you fail to follow the stream line.

really good, but what about adding transparency effect in the hitpoint (or maybe hit mark like #2 post said). it would be better.

Hit mark seems fine, I had trouble finding a name for it. I'm fine with any name changes, we'll likely find something that fits it well.

As for transparency, that's debatable too, but I think it should just be opaque or only slightly transparent. Perhaps smaller than what I showed in the video (The dot is 8 pixels wide in the video), maybe something like 3 to 5 pixels.
