i really dont know... my love for animals is very sadly weak and distant and tentative, so i will have to be a coward and indecisively list a loose variety of animals i've had superficial-yet-sentimental attachments to, but...
+ pigeons/doves but especially mourning doves (oh i just love their distinctive coo, it would feel like being called back to childhood again)
+ corvids but especially crows/ravens (i adore these little quirky smarties and a character of mine was inspired by them, but there are a ton of interesting other kinds of corvids, like magpies for example)
+ parrots and parakeets, maybe!!
+ turtles, defensive and tucked away within an accessible sense of safety...
+ cats!! <3
+ deer... <33
+ owls... <333
+ i forgor
