my cousin recently got a me a mechanical keyboard, and my whole life ive been using the keyboard on my laptop so im kind of clueless on what to do and if theres something everybody should know. Back when i was playing with the laptop keyboard i had a really weird playstyle/positioning on my wrist and it often turned red and hurt like crazy after a while. I think it was because i had no room so i kinda had to twist my wrist to the keys to play.

so im asking for tips or different play styles or maybe even keybinds to try on the mechanical keyboard because now i have a lot of room. (like should i lift my wrist or rest them). How im currently playing feels really off to me and uncomfortable and i dont want to go back to bad habits of using painful methods of playing.

There is no single right answer here. Just explore and find the best keybinds as you play.

I bought a wrist rest for my mech keyboard, and that eliminated pretty much all the discomfort for me. First one I bought sucked because it was way too high. The second one was pretty good, keychron silicone palm rest if you're curious. Alternatively, you could also fold a towel which is what I did for a long time. On the plus side, its adjustable.

Whether you lift or rest your wrist is personal preference, its whatever feels more comfortable. Never played on a laptop keyboard so I got no tips for adjusting to a mech keyboard.
