New tablet user - Need some tips

I picked up an old unopened Intuos 3 4x6 from someone in my area for $20 so I could try out a tablet for Osu! There isn't much of a relearning problem but it's going to take a little bit of time to get used to, a few questions though:

1. What are the best settings that I should be using? I changed my pen from pen to mouse mode, turned down acceleration to none and heightened the sensitivity so I could actually move and turned off tap clicking.

2. Is this tablet too outdated or am I fine (reviews I found were from 2007-2009...)? It feels okay and the drawing area doesn't feel too small, I don't think I even use all of it when I'm playing.

3. Are there any tips or pointers that should be obvious but I'm missing anyway for tablet users?

What the hell is the point of a tablet if you have it in mouse mode??? LEAVE IT IN PEN MODE!!!
You use a tablet because you want ABSOLUTE POSITIONING! This means where you move your pen on your tablet, your cursor moves one screen. No point in owning/using a tablet if your just using it as a damn mouse.

It really doesn't matter how old it is. As long as it works.

Find settings you like. It may take a bit of playing around with the settings, but some people prefer small area, some people prefer full. Although a general rule of thumb is that the LARGER the area the EASIER it is to hit the notes because you have a bigger success chance. If you use a smaller area you lose your success chance in exchange for being able to do jumps and stuff quicker. (i.e not have to move your hand as far)

But in general don't use super small area.

And practice yes practice is good.

Dude, I don't mean to be rude or anything but you shouldn't expect your skill level in using the tablet be on par to if you use your mouse. For most tablet players who switched from using a mouse, almost all of them will tell you that it takes time to get used to it.

It's just like learning how to play Osu all over again in terms of aiming. Just because you got a tablet doesn't mean you will become 100x better than what your current skill level is. Your accuracy will decrease a bit and such while you're learning how to play with it.

The cursor moves slow because YOU'RE moving it slow. You can probably FC your favorite map you played over 100 times with your mouse, but not on tablet. You're most likely struggling to keep up with the notes. Don't expect so much from something you barely know how to use.

If your tablet has a program called "flicks" don't be stupid like me and turn it off, it helps a lot. Other than that you don't have to change many settings for a tablet, in fact I really don't know what else you would change except the usage area. Just keep using it, when I was using a mouse I was playing at a hard level. When I got the tablet I had to go back to easy, after the first day I was onto hard. Than a few weeks later I was playing Insane. It really does help, at least for me.

Just to spite you I am better with the tablet after a day than I was with my mouse, FCing my favorite beatmaps now



Thank you everyone else for helping me out with advice and visuals for some settings, I honestly appreciate it.
