I think i ruined my score!!

I have search on the internet about this and just found some post on Osu and reddit that where talking about it.

I played this song beatmapsets/283841#mania/642743, even its a 3.8 4k map its very easy and it gave me a lot of PP
so yeah but at wat cost.

in my own words of what i understand, the score of a beatmap is compared with my highest score or something like that.

so now that i played this high score map the system thinks i can play on that difficulti and now the normal diff maps only give me 1-4 pp or they take score.

Im more of a casual player but this hurt me
I can only see two options
1. keep playing until im able to set better scores
2. in some way delete that score

I think you are misunderstanding how the pp system works

What is happening is:
The pp system does not give a map a different pp value for every player, if 2 players set the exact same score then it will have the exact same pp value
However, there is a weighting system to how the pp gets added onto your profile. For your highest pp score, you get 100 percent of the pp gets added to your total pp, for the second it is 95 percent, for the third it is 90 and on and on until 1 percent.
The difference between these does not affect the percentage, if you have a 500pp top play, a 400pp second to top play would be worth 95 percent, if however your second highest score is a 200pp play that 200pp score would still be worth 95 percent of it to your total pp.

Something else that is worth noting is that you might have past scores on that map and so when you get a new score you only gain based on how much more that new score is. For example, if you have a top play that is 100pp, and you get a new score on that same exact difficulty that is worth 120pp, you would only gain 20pp from it as you had a 100pp score before.

And about your final point, there is no way to delete a score, if it is there, it is there

the pp is same but the way its added to profile isnt

osu weighted system percentages top play is 100% and it goes lower and lower less high pp play. reason is pepsi (devloper of sou) be liek "yur farm has a giant pp (peppy pointTM) in it so we must ENCKURAGEMENT on people gigantic peppy point play make imprivement farms farms pepsi point because skull improveemtn is SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA and farm for pp alot of sigma males be like "aw hyell nah"

nah i aint a yt shorts kid or really brain rotted at all ngl, i only really use brainrot when i feel like it rather than havinf brainrot tourettes where i cant control myself and kinda just spasm out "HAWK TOO" in conversation. i acrually use social media and just encounter memes suprisingly little lmao, on school days i have only 3 hours of free time so 2 of those are on my pc and the remainder is spent on other stuff like showering and eating and that kinda shit

It shows how much PP you get from a map on your profile. Its the white text to the right of your acc.

e.g
35PP * 60% = 21PP

ok ok HUGE thanks for the info so it seems that the only possible way for getting more points ist to star playing +3.00 stars maps to get scores with more weight

btw im finally able to survive +3 star maps so now i have to get better to set a score

so whe the score says 36pp in game in, it is placed on the score table and based on the possition it gets it is calculated how much pp im getting from that score

so that means that the real pp (35) is used to place the score in a positioin Inside the top 100 plays??
and again, based on the position is how much pp im getting



WAIT!! doesn't that mean, after reading both responses, that if I get another 36pp score that will overplace the 35 pp and i will be gaining like... 1 with a 21pp (white) but the 35pp is now 20pp (w) so im not getting any????? WHAT???

mm so is not efficient to take small steps. so is better to advance taking longer steps

i see that the top #100 needs a 100pp score to AT LEAST give 1pp and for at least

OMG!!!@!! that meas to have 10pp on the #100 you should have a 1,000pp score has your worse score

pp gain sorta escalates expinentially

when i 95% anything under 4 star its <100pp but 95% a 5 star its >200pp. to get a 1k pp scoreits be like 7 or 8 star 95% im guessing
