[invalid] Friends counter on profile page isn't synced to friends page

I've cleaned my friends list a while ago (month or so), from about 40-50 to 11 users. And added some new since then. However on my profile page friends it's still displaying 43, which is not correct.

A known bug or new?

That number is not what you think it is. That is the count of people following you, not the count of people you follow.
