How do I limit my fps to refresh rate without using vsync?

Problem details:
I run lazer on my surface laptop. With unlimited fps, it can get to 300+ fps. However, it tends to overheat whenever the fps is too high. The minimum amount of fps cap without Vsync is 2x my refresh rate, making it 240 fps (which still overheats my laptop).

I tried using Vsync but it tends to cause input delays.

Is there any way to set my fps limit to my refresh rate without vsync's lag issues?

Why don’t you crank it down a bit if it’s set to “basically unlimited”?

don't use unlimited. use 4x or 8x.

Setting your refresh rate to the same as ur fps limit IS vsync.

The laptop is known to be very hot when running a game that is set to unlimited FPS.

Vsync's purpose is to make your game look amazing at the cost of performance issues like lagging and lag spikes.

Also, why not increase your refresh rate a little because that would do a number on your high FPS
