Problem details: System.Exception: Unsigned excecutable!

I use Windows 10 PRO. Yes, i have done every single thing dating back to atleast 2016 on the forums. Updating all drivers, windows updates, switched the osu! file with the osu!installer and changed the name to osu!, ran through all the compatibility options, went through every single version of .net framework that is officially out rn, reinstalled the game and tried updating it from the fallback version, made exceptions on antivirus, after that i deleted all my antiviruses and changed folder permissions I cannot think of anything else except reinstalling my Windows which i am not going to do for the sake of clicking circles :( Never have i encountered such a bug in any game.

I have seen tens not if hundreds of forum threads on this very same topic but the admin still wants more threads about this hence why i'm making a new one :) make this make sense i am about to quit w please.

I cannot install it nor run it

osu! version: Stable 20240820.1

Go to start menu and search for "certmgr" (Manage Computer Certificates) and open it. Then click on "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and "Certificates". Then check if you see this specific certificate in the list: "Microsoft Identity Verification Root Certificate Authority 2020" (must be exact), and let me know if you have it or not.

Hm. Go to start menu and search for "gpedit.msc", open it and go to "Computer Configuration".

Then "Administrative Templates" -> "System" -> "Internet Communication Management" -> "Internet Communication Settings".

Double click on "Turn off Automatic Root Certificates Update" and check if you have that set to "Not Configured" or not.

It says enabled.

Got it working though, just needed to import the Microsoft Identity Verification Root Certificate Authority 2020.

thanks!

Yeah that was the problem then. The certificate would be installed automatically if you had that set to "Not configured" or "Disabled".

I've met the same problem too. But My "Turn off Automatic Root Certificates Update" says "Not configured" and it still doesn't work. How can I update the certificate manually.

My computer previously downloaded osu and played for a while. But for some reason my computer did not update to the new version, so I deleted it and downloaded it again, but it said System.Exception: Unsigned executable! . Can anyone help me fix this error? (I use Windows 7)
