Problem details:

Yes, I know this is probably intentional since the slider in settings has 80% as the lowest option. But, anyways:
I like being able to rescale the gameplay area with UI scaling, since my desk doesn't allow my monitor to be as far back as I'd like it. Is there anyway to change the UI scale lower?

I've tried editing the scale setting directly in the game.ini, but when I launch the game it gets forced back to 80%.

osu! version: Lazer 2024.1009.1

You could play with the game at a smaller window size, but that isnt advised as it can potentially cause issues with performance, and not be as good/you are playing with a smaller window.

However, if the game.ini is not allowing you to force the game UI to be lower than 80% then I don't believe its possible.

You can't decrease UI scale further than 0.8x, even with .ini editing. That said I am rather weirded out that you're using UI scale to rescale the gameplay area. Why aren't you using screen scaling for that which is a separate feature?

If you search for "screen scaling" in settings and set it to "gameplay", you can reduce the size of the in-game playfield to as low as 20%.

Ooooh, that makes a lot more sense.

I got a bit confused, since the scaling and positioning sliders don't look related to the screen scaling at first glance. Might be because of the large margin between them, but I just missed it entirely.

The sliders also don't show up when searching scaling in the options either.
^ nvm i'm blind
