Problem Details:

I have been trying to install osu! for a while now and I keep getting the error message, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I am not having problems installing any other programs on my computer. The only issue is osu!. I have seen some other threads with people who had the same problem, but I have not seen a definitive solution. People have suggested downloading the .NET framework again and I have done that with no success. A solution would be greatly appreciated.

Video or screenshot showing the problem:

osu! version: 20140310.4

If reinstalling .NET doesn't work, have you tried redownloading the installer? There might be some corrupted packages in the one you have now.

you may want to re-download the installer and try again

I have redownloaded the osu installer many times in my attempt to fix this problem as well as the osume.exe file on its own in an effort to fix the problem but that did not work. Right now, I am uninstalling all .NET framework files on my computer and redownloading Windows Installer. Any other help would still be useful.

what does osume say to you? Where did you get it from? Try https://s.ppy.sh/release/osume.exe and see if it's in a working state

What kinda issues did you face with osume?

When I try to run osume.exe downloaded from that link, I get an error that says "Updater has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem." And then it crashes.

welp. reinstalling dotnet will probably help, then

Maybe useless, but you could refer to that. Doesn't seem to have a solution though._.
If you're on a 64-bit OS, install the 64-bit version of .NET

I am now reinstalling Windows and hopefully that solves my problem. Reinstalling .NET did nothing to solve my problem.

Bump!

Did it help?
