Best way to progress from platters to rains?

Hi,

I've been playing platters for awhile now and can at least A-rank pass most of them in the range I normally play (<=3.6 stars). I'm pretty comfortable with hyperdashing and AR8 at this point. I've tried playing a few low SR rains (less than 3.5 stars), but I'm having lots of trouble reading anything above AR ~8.5, mainly when there are lots of jumps in a short period of time. My problem is that there are very few rains that are AR 9 and passable for me, and I'm also running out of platters that are hard for me and push my skillcap. I've tried playing cups with HR to practice higher AR, but that only gets me to AR 8.4 and they usually aren't hard enough to have hyperfruits with HR on.

I'm curious what you did at this stage to improve. I've tried looking for information, but haven't been able to find any recent posts about this. It seems not many beginners are trying to move beyond platters.

Play rain directly, try to pass as much map as you can.
For HR part it's normal that you can't go far. Maybe try it after you can play Overdose comfortably.

Thanks for the advice. I'll just keep going with the kinds of maps I've been playing, and use NF if necessary.
I CAN FC
try convert 3.3-4star
slowly push up

personally, 3.7+ is more worthy to practice

some good rain diff i think

not recommend play hr for ar prac
this mod can cause ordinary fruits to veer slightly to the left or right from their normal position. This change requires players to make more chaotic movements and to use hyperdashes more frequently.
it always make some weird pattern and edge(pixel) jump
there are 2way to prac ar9 usually
push up slowly(8.5->8.7/8->9) or just play more until used to it
in case2, u can find low sr ar9 convert (like 3star) these always simple pattern even just walk

OK. I've been playing some AR 8.2 nomod specifics with the idea of using the first method. I didn't know converts were so useful; I'll start playing them. (In other gamemodes, converts are bad for improvement.) I also didn't know that HR can add edge jumps. I knew that EZ will do that but didn't hear anything about HR.

4 star maps are barely possible for me to play right now (I got my first 4 star pass today, and it was low AR by rain difficulty standards and probably got its rating inflated by the weird sliders), so I will probably start with ~3-3.5 star maps that have AR ~8.5.

Specifics that have AR less than 9 but more than 8 are pretty unusual, as well as low star rating specifics that have AR 9, so the converts will be helpful.
