yeah sometimes just the smell gives a good preview of the vibe of the taste-- if i recall correctly, i think theyre overlapping senses and they are both chemical processes that sense the composition of the things we put into our bodies (to avoid toxins and infection and disease) or other things that might do something to our bodies (other animals, hazardous gas, et cetera)Polyspora wrote:

so there is a real reason why "burnt rubber" is an impression that we can "taste" without putting it in our mouths or ingesting anything... sometimes water just has enough of something that gives us similar impressions through its taste
